I don’t ever write reviews or bother with the comments in KZbin, but just had to because this is such an incredible channel. I put off learning AE for a very long time because it just seemed so daunting. I fortunately happened upon this series and I cannot underscore how helpful it has been, how much I have learned within a relatively short period of time, and how it is so wonderfully executed. Altogether, the videos, the PDF, and the accompanying project files are so well done, and I can’t believe the bulk of this was FREE. This is truly a quality, university-caliber course, and GDS has a great knack for teaching. Firstly, the organization of the video segments is perfect. Although there are A LOT of them, everything in them is purposeful, meaning everything contained is essential, concise, and beautifully explained. And, as someone has already mentioned in the comments, GDS was great with repeating key phrases and steps so that you fully understand. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into his choice of words, organization, and sequencing. The color-coded PDF is extremely helpful with its summaries and quick links. Most importantly, it’s a great resource to accompany the videos. AGAIN, I can’t believe the bulk of this is FREE and how helpful it has been (Note: I haven’t finished the whole course, but if what I have completed is any indication of the rest of the course, I expect to be fluent soon!). As a designer who has relied on tutorials through the years, this series is by far the best I have ever encountered in terms of QUALITY, PRESENTATION, CONTENT, AND EXECUTION. Cannot recommend this more highly! Cheers, GDS!

First video in the series where I thought it was a little fast but with all the stuff that was covered I totally understand. Nothing a few dozen rewinds can't fix. Great tuts, glad I gave you my money for the accompanying files!

Hello, I know this is a 3 year old video, but have you ever noticed the misspelling of "essential" on the intro card?
@ShiekahTribe10 ай бұрын
He may or may not have (I did, too.) Problem is that you can't just replace an uploaded video. Instead, you need to upload it as a new video, so all viewing stats are lost.

Hi, Why does After effects gives access to the photoshop layers and not to the illustrator layers? Say if I need to animate the British flag then should I make it on photoshop instead of illustrator?
@GarethDavidStudio3 жыл бұрын
Good question. My understanding is when you create art-work in AI, and import into AE, it reads everything as vector shapes instead of layers. When you create art-work in PS, and import into AE, it reads everything as bitmap layers, so generates layers instead of vector objects.

Loving your videos so far and they're incredibly helpful, however, you go so slow over easy and boring things...like three episodes on where to find the opacity icon but when you start actually doing real stuff like pulling in pics and adjusting them you go so fast I can hardly follow or understand what you're doing!! And in your downloadable folder I don't have some of the parts for the Big Ben image so I'm really lost. If you went over this part as slow as you did all the info on keyframes it would be as you always say....'easy'

This is hilarious to me. “So should we just film a fish tank with fish in it.” “No I must have control over each individual fish. Every movement, the looks on their faces, mine to control.” 😂😂

Could one set a preset complete folder structure in a hard drive that holds all assets to import into AE. Can a composition folder structure be incorporated into this which has all the AE pre composition AE file set up perimeters?

Does anyone know how to import pattern from PS to AE? Should I import pattern file somehow, or just one tile of pattern and make it repeat in AE? I want to be able to move it seemlessly, just like I can in photoshop. Found it, bring one tile into composition than use motion tile effect, and you can make seemles loop moving pattern.

CS6 windows here, the reveal menu is different (not a sub-menu) and does not include reveal in finder/explorer. but now I have found that you can find it using right click on the file on the PROYECT panel so, there's that!
@trikisllamas29644 жыл бұрын
so you can go to the Timeline Panel > right click on the layer > Reveal Layer Source in Project - then go to the Project Panel > right click on file > Reveal in Explorer. hope that helps someone that needs it
