(Which is what you need to do). The content id was picking it up and so I had to keep cutting it and ultimately had to speed it up. So hopefully it still gets the job done. Here’s one…Tim Aven, guitarist based in Nashville with a new-ish KZbin channel (check him out) who plays in the a band called LANCO was doing a live stream, he got copyright struck down for playing one of LANCO’s songs. He’s in the f-ing band! KZbin’s algorithm basically says you can’t be in the band and play the actual band’s song. Love your content Frank…it’s absurd how instructional/videos have this happen. Beato’s had a few rants about this. But hey, just make sure you don’t do anything from The Eagles, Don Henley will have his team of attorney’s who specifically monitor KZbin content shut you down (and Don Henley claimed that he’s there to protect the smaller musicians 😂). Keep up the great work Frank 🤘🏼

I hear ya, I started my channel about 8 months ago and realized early on that I couldn't sing certain songs without a copywrite flag. So now I do test uploads of about a minute to a minute and half videos to see if I can sing the lyrics or just speak them before recording the lesson. I do get subscribes asking why I speak the lyrics on some songs and others I sing and I have to explain it to them. I upload 4 videos a week and since using this method, I have not been flagged for 4 months. However, prior to that, I had recorded a lesson on Turn the Page. When looking at where in the song I was flagged, it highlighted the very beginning sitting on a droning Em....???? No singing and no lyrics....you cannot copywrite a chord or a chord progression otherwise country music would be screwed. I had another on Purple Rain and didn't sing a note. Several of them I disputed on fair use but they all were denied. I am going to start a hybrid method of singing a small line of only a couple of seconds followed by just instructions as to where we are in the song. I subbed brother....keep picking!

Hi and thanks for the great suggestions and for subbing! I will check out your channel! I always schedule the vids to come out at least a week or so in advance to give me a heads up for any potential pitfalls. There are copy write tracking apps used by private companies for the intent of finding and filing suit for people using musical content across the web. IT is a load of crap. They profit off frivolous lawsuits from someone like Frank using pieces of a song, melody or even lyrics. It is possible to copy write a word. phrase or action making the people using it responsible for a fee cost or penalty. Sorry Frank your doing a fantastic job here and many of us greatly appreciate your talent and efforts.

I agree making music videos isn't easy to do but be careful with copyright issues. Sometime one week planning gone to waste after seeing You tube content take down warnings and have to delete or rework part of the affect videos. i mostly delete part of the videos rather than to dispute it and get a copyright strike [ 3 times and your channel are gone ]. After posting so many videos you learn how to avoid getting into some of the copyright issues and learn to live with it if you still want to post to You tube and play by the rules.
@FrankPersico2 ай бұрын
Totally. I would never take it that far as to raise the level of the dispute if I was denied. Not worth the risk for sure. I need to really think about the copyright system at all times when planning out my lessons rather than thinking first about how to make the best lesson. I think that is my takeaway moving forward. I thank you for taking the time to comment
@CalvinLimSH-ld5le2 ай бұрын
@@FrankPersico Sometime you don't play to perfection but don't forget the lyrics are copyrighted too. Cannot sing the lyrics or even hum the tune. I just learn to avoid the songs sung by the artiste who are very strict with copyright issues. No point promoting this artiste and the songs and ending all messed up with the Law. Don't forget the legal issues if they decide you can afford to pay for the lawsuits and they come after you.

Before watching the video, and guessing you got a take-down notice, I can only offer my support and this piece of advice: Don't teach songs; it's literally asking for a take-down or to be demonetized. Learning to be a guitarist goes far beyond learning songs; it's also about learning how to adapt on the fly, like if you break your A string during the first chorus of a song and it throws your guitar completely out of tune, but you have to keep playing.

The thing about these copyright issues, if the artist who wrote the song has a problem with someone teaching it maybe they should teach the song instead, but if they don’t how can they complain when they can’t be bothered, either put up or shut up.

KZbin is not for creators, it is a social experiment. They have created this air that you don't need to subscribe, we will show you what you want. Hurting us small channels. Shorts 1 can do really well, basically re do it with identical description, tags, etc... and tanks. If they are so good at showing us what we want why wouldn't they show that same short to the same exact people.

This strange notion where people do a cover version of a song, claim it as their own, upload it to You Tube, get about thirty views and then the video goes on to get other videos blocked for copyright is ludicrous. Perhaps You Tube should do their content ID the other way around, so that fair use is simply assumed unless the copyright holder actually intervenes rather than You Tubes clearly not fit for use algorithm.

Simple solution....channels like yours should be allowed to apply for an 'exemption' from the system. Perhaps channels should already have at least 30 example videos before they are vetted and accepted into a non-claimable channel. Teaching channels should be no-brainers for this.

Well try teaching guitar not songs ….once they know how to play turn them loose. They can download a song themselves and play it but they have to learn how to play first ..that is your job… teach chord progressions,bending,triads..etc teach them how to write songs. If you use someone’s song you cause yourself to get in trouble….. like it or not this is what happens when you try!
