Frank you DO have a bit of a Bostonian accent, but actually Medford (MA) to be more precise. That is a suburb just north of Boston. You’d fit right in, especially if you were taking orders at the local Dunks.

It's so true. I will never forget practicing hour after hour after month after month to finally nail down Eugene's Trickbag at tempo. One time I was out with some people and there was a guitar people were playing. I played Eugene's Trickbag, or the first half anyway, and people were like "oh yeah pretty cool". After my friend busted out some Pentatonic licks and people lost their minds haha.

Yes on the carbs and inflammation! I’ve had experiences like that and do keto now. You should also add seed oils and omega 3 deficit to the list. There are only three macronutrients, fats, proteins, carbs. Only two are necessary, and only one is addictive. And carbs are carbs. Bread is the same as candy is the same as potatoes is the same as fruit. Don’t get me started lol, but I always recommend Dr. Ken Berry on the Utube.

This is helpful, thanks. Very helpful actually. Minor critique though, at 6:25 the guitar became too loud and I couldn't really follow you anymore, had to turn on captions, but it was still too hard to stay in the groove. You should lower the background guitar to background level, or don't play so good.

Thanks for pointing that out. I need to work on the balance when I start playing the guitar especially amplified during a video… cheers!! I appreciate the feedback it helps

Thank you Frank! Not my intention to cast aspersions on other tutors but I need to say there is something authentic and organic in all your videos. No click-bait, IMO, just so entertaining and informative. As an intermediate, I strongly resonate with EVERYTHING you said and by default, have tried them. They work. I may sound patronizing, pun unintended. Considering subbing soon. Warm regards and festive cheer to all on your side.

Gigs are great but I used to make more money busking. The most I ever made was $750 a week playing 3 days. I would play up to 6hrs a day with regular breaks. My tips would be to find an area where people are responsive and have loose change in their hands; so near a carpark pay machine or train station, pedestrian plazas where people are milling around & relaxing are great but not areas where people are in a hurry and rushing around; they've got somewhere to be and won't stop for you. Always play songs people know.

5:33 "Instead of worrying about how you're being perceived, or judging yourself in real-time, you focus fully on being fully in the music. When you stop caring about impressing others and focus on just expressing yourself, you'll play with more authenticity." A brilliant analog for life in general. Thank you.

I’ve been playing for 3 months, yet my coworkers all guessed that I’d been playing for an average of two years. That’s because the average person doesn’t see the difficulty when they see someone play the guitar. They just hear the sound, and if it sounds good, they’ll be impressed and think you know what you’re doing. That being said I genuinely am pretty good for 3 months haha. Awesome video man

I’ve asked this question to many guitar KZbinrs, and have yet to get an answer: should you practice on just one guitar, are if you have more than one, rotate your practice sessions thru different guitars?
@FrankPersico2 күн бұрын
Hi. Great subject I will talk about this on my live broadcast tomorrow the 23rd at 7 est. I’m sure others in the comment feed will chime in with their ideas and you will get many perspectives. Personally for me I grab whatever guitar is closest when it comes to practice unless the piece I am preparing is for a performance. The. I will practice it on the guitar I plan to use for the performance. Or let’s say I’m practicing a classical piece; I’m likely to do that on my nylon string. I will also say that if your guitars have different scale length it may hurt you a bit to be changing back and forth too frequently. So there is a compromise inherent in any approach … like all things the answer is “it depends” …

Does anyone have any tips on how I can reach out to my local musical community , of gigging musicians; to join a their band and & get paying gigs. I imagine figuring out who the bands are, that I'd like to work with, finding out where they play, going to see them & Introducing myelf to them is a good place to start. I will print up some business cards as well to hand them. Basically, Id be looking to fill-in for their drummer. Thanks!
@FrankPersico2 күн бұрын
Hi there. I think your best bet is to go to open jams where you can sit in with other players. This will give you a feel for it and more importantly let others hear how well you play.

My go-to crowd pleasers when I'm trying to impress Jack and Diane - with live backup vocal pedal. Not pre-recorded, still using Digitech Vocalist Live 3. Baba O'Riley using a couple of live delay/loop tricks for that iconic main effect, and harmonica outro Under Pressure - looping the main bass line Rocket Man, with live backup vocal pedal and a layered loop outro Opener, I often open with Melissa by Allman Bros to ease into the gig, a little loop and lead, sometimes medley with Blue Sky.

I’m still a beginner, but I see this as so true already. Even just playing around on a piano doing scales or simple arpeggios combined with only shells in the left hand, when my gf hears that she will say “o what was that” I guess it’s similar to a magician - they’ve done the trick a million times where they think maybe it’s lame - but to someone who has never seen it before, it resonates with their sense of wonder when they see it for the first time.
