Try their live version of Green Grass and High Tides. These guys played my little state of Connecticut a lot in the late 70’s - early 80’s. They played with Foghat a few times. Most memorable (that I can remember of it anyway) was a Halloween show. Both bands were at their peak and so good.

I’ve always loved The Outlaws version of this best. Great reaction. That lead singer, Henry Paul, actually formed a successful Country band in the 90s called, Blackhawk.

There's a bunch of versions of this song spanning over 70 years. Everyone from Johnny Cash to Willie Nelson and many others.

Outlaws version of this dusty and beloved classic stands with any one’s. And there have been some great ones….I always wished Roy Clark had hooked up with these boys onstage…They would have blown some minds…

An old cowboy went riding out One dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested As he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd Of red eyed cows he saw Plowin' through the ragged skies And up the cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire And their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny And their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him As they thundered through the sky He saw the riders coming hard And heard their mournful cry Yippie-yi-yay Yippie-yi-o Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky Their faces gaunt Their eyes were blurred Their shirts all soaked with sweat They're riding hard to catch that herd But they ain't caught it yet 'Cause they've got to ride forever On that range up in the sky On horses snorting fire As they ride on, hear their cry Yippie-yi-yay Yippie-yi-o Ghost riders in....Ghost riders the sky Extra lyrics from Johnny Cash's version As the riders loped on by him He heard one call his name 'If you wanna save your soul From hell a-riding on our range Then, cowboy, change your ways today Or with us you will ride Trying to catch the devil's herd Across these endless skies Yippie-yi-o Yippie-yi-yay Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky

Still one of my favorite bands. Their guitar playing is always excellent. Here's three deep cuts, one each from their first three albums that you would enjoy, Knoxville Girl, Freeborn Man, and Man of the Hour. You probably won't get any reaction requests for these, but they're tunes that would be worth a listen if you're interested in hearing more of their music.

Seems like almost every Southern Rock and Country band has covered "Ghost Rider In The Sky" at one time or another. This version is pretty good, the guitar work is excellent, as you would expect from the Florida Guitar Army, as Outlaws were known. GRITS, is a classic tune, don't even know wrote it, but it has been around for years, many, many covers out there.

They only sang about 50% of the song and did the instrumental for the second half. Decent version.

Before even hearing your opinions on the song, thank you for showing how to properly do song reviews. Listen to the song, then chime in with your thoughts. Don't stop every 5 seconds and give 3 minutes of commentary.
