Great content, Sam! I am the proud owner of the 12 valve. This truck is amazing and drove the 650+ trek to Utah with zero problems. V-Belt is honest, provides great content, and does detailed work on his fleet of trucks. Thanks again Sam!

IMHO... I think you made a really good decision with the 5500. The frame/engine is designed to do exactly what you are asking it to do. The 3500, and GM/Ford, not so much. The 5500 should still be working when Calahan is ready to drive it!! 8) JMHO --gary

Not exactly sure if the small excavators have it like the medium and large do but in the monitor there is a heavy lift mode that ramps the hydraulics different.

Just my 2 cents. I demo this cat 310 for a couple of months. It was one of the least favorite machines I have been on. The machine did not like multiple operations at the same time. The electric over hydraulic is slow and the hydraulics on the machine are slow. Cat worked on it a couple times trying to speed it up but the told me at the end I was over operating the machine and it was a economy excavator. I put 300 plus hours on the new machine and felt it like it had 2000 thousand hours after turned it back in. I loved the size of the machine had high hopes for it. I Thought I could not go wrong with cat but these next gen models are nothing like old cat. And it was made in China.

I haven’t ran this machine much at all but it doesn’t feel fast or slow. Right In the middle. I don’t mind the speed. But time will tell he already bought this lol

I don’t know, for the money it’s hard to beat a Volvo for sure. Lifetime frames warranty, and standard reversible bucket quick coupler with continuous secondary hydraulics. I get CAT has a good name for a reason, but damn there’s so much room to improve.

@@VBELTandSON Since you asked.. I almost bought one, twice. Went to test it out twice and found the machine to be weak.. I could not pull a full bucket out of the ground. For me the worst was the machine could not multifunction at all.. If you had to turn while driving, the machine would bog down. I'm not talking about swinging and curling... and as sedgar11 noted it is MADE IN CHINA !!! I looked at several machines side by side with US made and Chinese made. Everything is different, paint, clear coat, the way the engine bay is done, the pairing of the pump to motor etc... if you have an eye for these things you will see it. The salesman was oblivious... for obvious reasons. I had really high hopes but had to walk away twice. My Takeuchi TB260 multifunction capability is through the roof and it doesn't have all this next gen electronic wizardry, so maybe I'm spoiled... On a separate note, the turntable had Alot of play with 1.4 hours on it. I like CAT, have a 289D, love that machine. But this thing is a fill in the blank...

@@VBELTandSON certainly is efficient on the small scale. CAT 349e is a good middle of the road. That 310 is large in the small class. If it works great for you, that's the tool you need. Pluss I'm not the one forking out the paper. His 310 is Hella nice machine. My shit is older and I higher low bed for 315 as I don't have use besides occasional 315 transport for heavy haul set up. 5yrd and tag trailer works good for my 308 tho. Pluss living in hill country having a small rig is key for getting in and out tight places. How much one them blocks weigh???. My 308c cr will pick 2x2x4 4500lb pre poured blocks that we use to build retaining walks. Even perpendicular to track not extended all l way out tho.

New trucks don’t mind towing that weight at all. It tows great. Plenty of power and brakes. He tows that rig all over the state. And around 4k per block. Most machines can handle one block no problem.

His reviews of equipment and his truck are WAY different than yours are. After watching your reviews I know that you have not had sex w your trucks.
