Loved today`s video. Diesel showed you the way in! He`s a good boy. This is probably a dumb question. Why when there is cleared ground EVERYWHERE does some one want to build a house in a stand of trees? I know you are having trouble with my Australian idiom, but I have to admit I`m having trouble with your accent.. It took me a while to work out that when you said the truck was stuck on a "heel", you were saying "hill" So lovely that we can embrace our differences! I try really hard to make my language easy to understand. Photography was great, love that drone. Looks like you have had heaps of rain, in fact I think you have had Queensland`s share as well. So dry here and HOT, for 2 weeks now. Expect! 100 plus today. Lovely message to finish with.

Diesel shows me where I'm supposed to work. 🤣 That is a good question about clearing trees to build. Can't say that I know. 🤔 That was funny about the "heel". I'm sure my accent is a doozy for you to get sometimes. Makes it all the more fun! Lots of rain and I don't mind if yall keep the hot, I don't want it. Glad you enjoyed the message!!!

Man I know you're glad to be back working. I sure am. I think a tandem dump truck and a 313 would be the perfect setup. I'm thinking very seriously about selling my single axle. But like you said, the price for equipment is just crazy.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Right, prices are just to high. I'm making it fine with what I have. If something breaks I would have to do something though. Yes, it's nice to be working.

Valuable lesson with dead tree. My dad got killed on a bulldozer pushing a tree when the top broke out of it. Back in those days lots of dozers did not have tops on them. With the views you have everyday it has to be a great work environment. Great message!
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Right, those trees are so dangerous. There is just no way of knowing what it is going to do. I've seen a few of the older dozer without tops and just so dangerous. Sorry to hear that about your Dad. Blessed to have a great area to work. Glad you enjoyed the message...

Im on the lower side of equipment, I think my get next is a dozer but will need a bigger transportation setup. that's a bigger path than i want to cross but for now I've got a decent setup of equipment. 308 putting in work. 👍
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Yup, it's a gradual climb adding equipment. A dozer and the 308 make a great combination. But you are right, with bigger equipment comes bigger transporting needs, unless you pay someone to haul. Letsdig 18 does that but he is generally on a job for several days at a time. I like the convenience of being able to move equipment as needed. You definitely have equipment to get the work done, for sure...Thanks

Equipt recommendations (upgrades) : Tandum dumps: the city runs 25 Macs, also Freightliners. The county runs Western Star. Skid loader: Move to a 299D2 or 299D3. The city just purcahsed 4 new 299D3, up graded from the 289. The city runs a Cat 316F, maybe to big.

😩 Anchor bad truck 😆 Thanks Sammy Awesome video. I noticed when you had your flashers on it looked like your right trailer light wasn't working it might have been the angle of the shot. I wish I had all the money I've spent on vehicles and stuff trying to upgrade it always costs me more in the long run then if I would have just invested in what I had. Hine sight 😆 I'm just saying this because me and you have about the same luck with stuff sometimes it's hard to watch you when I'm trying to take a break from something 🤣 it's all good 👍 You have a very nice set up. As a friend I would see about getting a grading bucket and a quick attachment for the 308 at least you know what you got there. And your attachments fit that machine already. And Anchor well that's another story. I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN 😂 THANKS FOR SHARING AND A BLESSED DAY AND BE SAFE. TAKE CARE BROTHER

Looks like an awesome new project!!! Speaking of new equipment, I'd recommend a ripper attachment for the 308. I bought one last year and admittedly I was pretty skeptical. After using it for a clearing job, I'm very impressed and won't go back to a 2' bucket for clearing and stumping. So much easier on the machine and makes stumping go much quicker and cleaner. The ripper I bought was from Mongo Attachments but I'm sure there are others just as good.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
I have a ripper for it I just haven't tried/used it much for clearing. When I did use it, it just seemed harder to sort thru the loose material and pick up stuff with it. Probably should try it out a little more. Funny how we get use to something or in the habit of something we use. Thanks

Thanks for another great message. I have a 289d3 and use a 259d and 299d3 at work. If you do decide to go up in size the 289 is the ticket. IMO. I can’t tell a difference between the 289 and 299 other than the sound of it the fuel consumption, Plus dealing with def. I can attest to the power of the 259. I use one daily and it’s a real solid powerful machine for its size. It always impresses me. Great video. Keep up the good work!! God Bless!
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Thanks Remington I appreciate it! So, is the 299 a bigger platform than the 289? I love that 289D3 you have. My hand gets to twitching, wanting to sign some papers for one!🤣
@poorfarm-nn6ii Жыл бұрын
@@tristardiggin they are basically the same size machine but the 299 has the larger motor which causes the back to be a little taller so a bit less eye sight out the back window. They are within maybe a 100 or so lbs of each other. My machine is 10,700 plus I have 300lbs of added weight on the back, and the 299 is 10,900 so it’s not much different there. 200lbs. I can basically dig right into the ground with my 289 in most instances. It’s ability to push is pretty awesome. The new d3 machines have 3 inches wider leg room in the cab as well. Hard to really notice I guess till you been in them a while. The d3 machines also have a set up where you can use a backhoe attachment. You push a button and the controls in the cab become excavator controls. They have a dozer set up that switches them to dozer controls for the blade attachment. I haven’t used those attachments on mine but I can see where the ability to say rent one from cat should I need it would be nice. My boss just purchased a grader blade set up with the two wheels out front just like a road grader. When cat gets it delivered ima have to check it out.

@MyTractorGuy Жыл бұрын
If you go from single axle jump to tri-axle instead. So you have the single for smaller loads and you can bump up the payload on a tri. Nice drone. I have the same one. Hopefully I'll get a job soon that is not on approach to a major runway. LOL

Great video! That 308 is about the size of machine I’d like to own some day. Maybe you could tell me if it’s a good size to start with or would a 305 be a better first machine. Great message at the end!
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Thanks Lee I really appreciate that. The 308 is an excellent all around size. I really like my 304 as well, especially doing grade work with Trimble Earthworks. It really just depend on how big of material you want to handle or how much dirt/rock you have to dig. The 304 would have handled the small stuff but way to small for the bigger stuff the 308 was throwing around. Hope that helps some... But both are great machine...

Always look forward to your videos. Question - can you haul your 308 with the 5500? Is the trailer heavy enough? Just wondering why you didn’t save a trip.
@tristardiggin Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate it. Yes, the 5500 and the Diamond C can haul the 308 but it is definitely a load for it. I kinda like hauling it on the 20 ton trailer and dump truck and probably a tad safer too.

That's what I thought too. Somewhere around 80k is what I'm thinking I would spend. But from what I've seen that won't buy much of a truck these days 🤔.
