Impressive Russian Lategame Tank || T-90A in War Thunder

The Т-90А is a rank VII Soviet medium tank with a battle rating of 10.7 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "New Power".
Overall, the armour protection of the T-90A can be considered almost the same as in the T-72B3 and T-80U. However, despite the hull being exactly the same as the T-72B3 with same thickness, composition, and add-on armour, the turret of the T-90A shows a new turret design which can be considered better due to the armour layout and composition. The T-90A, as the T-72B (1989) and T-72B3, has access to the CONTACT-5 ERA. This ERA (different from Relict and CONTACT-1 seen in other T-72B series) has the particularity that has stopping power against APFSDS (similar to Dorchester). Different from other T-72s, the T-90A has a rolled homogeneous armour turret with spacing for composite armour blocks rather than built-in. Fuel tanks on either side of the driver can soak up some shrapnel and add to the overall survivability although they are most likely to be lit on fire if hit with HEAT-FS or an ATGM. However, as with all Russian autoloaded MBTs, there are only three crew members so a well-placed shot is capable of causing a crew knock-out. Despite having a carousel autoloader which is not protected by any blast shield like on the Leclerc and Type 90 MBTs, it is harder to ammo rack compared to the T-80s especially since the ammo is scattered horizontally on top of each other ("=" in this shape) and not in an L shape (in which charges are vertical and projectiles are horizontal). This reduces the chances of ammo rack compared to the T-80s. However, all side shots on the hull will be lethal regardless of the carousel as said shot will take your two crew members. The ERA offers really good protection against chemical energy penetrators such as HEAT-FS, ATGMs, and anti-tank grenades, having a protection of 420 mm against chemical energy and 120 mm against kinetic energy. This makes the tank capable of withstanding hits of all HEAT-FS of the BR (most of them penetrate between 320 mm to 480 mm) and ATGMs (between 400 mm to 1,000 mm). It should be noted that ERA itself cannot stop all the spalling created by the premature explosion, the armour plating is what stops the spalling in case the ATGM has more penetration than what the ERA can withstand.

I played russian & german top tier for a while (Shiilka, BMP2M, T64B, T80B and Gepard, Begleit 57, Kpz70, Leo 2 PL) Never had any issues as long as i had a few supports, at least 1 kill or capture, i at least never made negative. The best thing to do is buy the russian premium T72Turms, it is a real earner, especially because the only competitor is the chinese tank, it is basically the same as the Turms, maybe a bit more survivable, thus also a true earner, sadly the western nations have nothing in the same BR, probably germany with the premium Leo 1 A5, or the Leo 2 PL if u put a Talisman on it, they are just not as surviavable. The other top tier premiums kinda suck, the XM1 is ok-ish but u get clapped very fast and everything with a 105mm gun is underpowered in my opinion, 120mm is the way to go, but no true high BR tank available sadly.

(italy) secondo me il T-90 è un ottimo serbatoio, il carro riesce a tener testa ai Leopard e agli Abrams, la penetrazione da 589mm è comunque buona per penetrare lo scafo frontale di qualsiasi carro nemico. Gli unici difetti sono la retro marcia a soli 4km/h e la corazza un po’ deboluccia. Però il T-90 (e tutti i carri moderni sovietici/russi) hanno il vantaggio della ricarica automatica che io adoro

That all really depends, actually. Theoretically, the T-90 can shoot a bigger HE or HEAT shell than the Abrams, but the Abrams can shoot longer and therefore more powerful APFSDS rounds due to not being constrained by an autoloader.

Design of T-90 is (I think) the best among Russian MBTs, but I don't like it cuz it has terrible turret rotation(with 72A,B, 80U), and stupid Reverse Speed.(Like other 72 series.) But its kinda good, cuz it has sturdy armor(especially turret) and Good Ammunition, IRCM(but most of top tier ATGM couldnt be stopped)

imo, in this modern time, there's no more supperior tank like in ww2 when Tiger I first came out. leopard 2a4 got wrecked in syria, abrams too in middle east, etc. challanger 2 only destroyed once by friendly fire, but the point is, it still got destroyed with 120mm gun and pretty much any mbt these days use 120mm. so yeah, it role used to be infantry support during WW2, but this modern day, when the weapon getting more advance, i kinda hard to see tanks role anymore

You see, War Thunder has no infantry squads all over the place, unlike what's happening in real life. Any tank will get destroyed in environment, where every enemy dude is armed with NLAW, Javelins, RPG-7, RPG-28, AT-4, KonkursM and etc. it's just unavoidable. By the way, Ukraine is loosing it's T-64 and T-72 every day with crazy rate as well, in tank vs tank engagements russians almost always win. The only T-90m russians lost in Ukraine was destroyed by russians themselves, to prevent ukrainians from capturing it.
