GREAT SHARE. What I found is to piggyback off other nearby cameras with IR on. To disable the one and leave the surrounding cameras IR ON. This gives you a MUCH CLEANER image at night as the front of the camera with IR off will not have the ghosting from the built-in IR. For example, my driveway camera has IR ON and my yard camera has the IR ON, but the patio doors facing the backyard have IR Off. It is piggybacking off the IR available from the other lights. Now instead of my patio only seeing 20 feet ahead and blacking out beyond that, it sees 60 feet clear as day with no hot spotting in the first 20 feet. SO NICE. TRY IT and let me know what you think. We are a TECH company here in Dallas,TX hope it helps with your projects. God Bless.

I had the same problem. If you move your camera to the left a little, you will see better because with your positioning the IR light is over exposed from being projected at a close object (the wall on the right).

Yeah, the flood light is much better. We use IR Illuminators to see an area as big as possible, not a spot.

Forgive me if it was mentioned because i did skip around a bit. But it should also be said that a proper power supply should be used when splitting the camera with the light. If the amperage isn't up to par your light wont be as bright as it should be.

@@ProjectBolony No problem. If your using the one that came with a single camera its most likely a 2 amp power supply and not enough for the two. And if its a larger one powering multiple cameras it probably still isnt enough for everything. Any one thats 5+ should do the trick for a single camera and a light. Anything over 5 would be fine also having to much amperage doesnt hurt, everything will just take what it needs. It seems the jc 210 requires a 3a ps for itself.

Greetings from England. In my system I mounted the IR floodlight well away from the camera and much lower down. I disabled the IR light in the camera. This means that the intruder never knows where the camera is. I would also mount your camera much lower down so you can capture faces. Anyway thanks for taking the trouble to do all this for us. ..... pity the specifications did not give you the information we really need!

Agree. I like that the cameras are out of reach. The only way I can disable the IR in my cameras is to take them apart and I am not going to do that. Thank you.
@ttss5726
@ttss5726 4 жыл бұрын
Out of reach means nothing planning camera location it also crucial look at businesses the majority of cameras will overlap one another all in the same direction compared to swann cameras with their crapping Field of view you are using two cameras just for the same area. One bullet or turret Tyler’s hikvision wou,d have lit that area up by itself and covered the entire area

whitefields5595 , when suspicious people know where the cameras are it is funny to watch them trying to go around them. They have know idea how wide a view we have, LOL. Plus if every angle & entrance is covered you will get them in the recording...if they know the cameras are there, they will pick an easier target to rob!!!!

Project Bolony, thanks much. I happened to find a battery operated IR illuminator made by Brinno (Model APL200). I wonder how it compares to the ones you shared with us? Thanks again for your videos. It was your videos that educated me on a necessity for more IR light to make my night videos show up clearly. If I get that Brinno, I'll let you know. Have a fine week, my friend.

It's just 12v DC. Any 12v battery would work. Charge it with a solar panel during the day with a rating of at least 100w, with a charge controller, and you'll probably be good. I say 100w, because this unit uses 20w, and you only get 4-5 hours of "good" sunlight per day, depending on where you are. That said, if you had a small wind turbine, you'd benefit from that around the clock. Solar plus wind means belt and suspenders. Also, you'll want the battery or battery array to probably be deep cycle so it has a reasonable life span.
@ProjectBolony
@ProjectBolony 4 жыл бұрын
Sounds reasonable to me. It does say 12VDC on the back of the light. I think there is only one way to find out.

Do you recommend pointing the IR light going in the same direcrion as the camera OR will the IR light work similar to a motion light mounted way up over the garage at the peak of the gable roof? Will that type of installation allow cameras to pick up the ambient IR light with your experience?
@ProjectBolony
@ProjectBolony 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, point the light the same direction as the camera for best results. Testing is always best. The cameras will still pick up other ambient light, but the main light source will be the IR flood light.

I wonder if you can put the jc-210 behind a diffuser lens. Not sure but one of those plastic frenzel magnification lens, maybe. You might have to build weatherproof box with lens at desired distance, maybe even curve the lens. I have same problem. was even considering making my own ring to install on cylindrical part of swann camera. But your way is better/easier.
@ProjectBolony

I would suspect it is possible. I do own 2 of them now. I had ended up reading in the reviews that it was more of a spotlight, but did not see that review until I got the lights. I know the IR Illuminator floodlights were very easy to put up and made a huge difference.

Beware of thermal imagers advertised as "mil-spec" that need an IR illuminator to see well. We used mil-spec infrared imaging systems in the US Army that could see better without IR illuminators than so-called "mil-spec" thermal imagers see with IR illuminators. Those IR illuminators are beacons pointing right back at you for someone using their own thermal imager.

Most of the cameras on the market have night vision. In special situations, the infrared lighting (IR) does not light up the area. That is why you would need an extra IR Illuminator. Like in my case, 2 story, the light goes nowhere. So the IR Illuminator is like a floodlight for my cameras. I am using Swann brand.
