It all depends what you're hitting. At least for me, if I'm going for a quick, I go right to the setter along with the ball, the ball is passed and going to the setter, I also go to the setter. If it's something else (2,4,5) I wait to approach and jump when the setter starts putting the ball up. PS: ALWAYS go TO the ball!!! Never assume the setter can set the same spot everytime, it's not possible. The setter will go to where the ball is, so should you

Hey Donny, can you do a video with timing and positioning for middle blockers? Especially what to do with a bad set. I play in a hobby team with people of various ages and skill, so the sets are all over the place mostly. I often catch myself being already under the ball and then too far away to spike at all on the next. I wonder if there is anything I can do to improve my spiking with a bad set so your perspective on that would be great.

Hi ! I'm kind of a small player (170cm), and i was wondering if it affected the timing : everytime, i appear to be going a little too early, but when i try to go a bit later, i find myself too low to hit the ball properly and end up either missing/hitting in the net or having to improvise and "feint". Any idea on why ? PS : Keep up, your videos are great and help a lot o/
@kevinimmanuel5648 жыл бұрын
Hey bro i remembered how i used to be like you. I am also a wing spiker and exactly 170 cm. At first u might think your height affects the timing, well yeah, but after keep playing i noticed that its your good approach in spiking. Cos i mean with decent approach and 170 cm height u still can spike hard, literally. But, If u still have problems then maybe you should do jump training. It really add some inches to your vert.
@landrean73158 жыл бұрын
Hey ! Sometimes i do manage to hit some pretty good spikes too, but most of the times i find myself trying to think too hard about when i'm gonna jump and missing completely... But yeah i'm gonna try to improve my jumping skills and approach Thanks bro !
@Insomniium8 жыл бұрын
Start your approach when the ball is released from setter's hands. And imagine you are trying to reach the ball up high with your left hand. When you reach it, swing. Need to practice approach a lot without ball to make it your second nature.

Hi. I'm a beginner in volleyball (I started in 7th grade but just recently returned now at 10th grade), and I tend to hit the ball consistently but mostly with random power (most of the times it sounds like a thud) is it because of my timing or is it my arm swing?

It depends on what tempo ur going at and how fast/high the setter is going to toss it
@Yara-cm8mh3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true, although a lot of setters tend to do a 2nd tempo set so it’s a nice general tip to take your first step BEFORE the setter sets just in case.
