Tibial Internal Rotation is very important! Many people lack the ability to rotate their shin bone inwards! A majority of my clients rest in tibial external rotation.
Tibial internal rotation is required to allow your foot to pronate, or flatten the arch, for shock absorption during functional activities, like landing when you jump, walk, or run. Without tibial internal rotation, you may overload other structures, like your knee and hip, resulting in aches and pains.
So, tibial internal rotation is coupled with pronation or eversion of the foot.
Tibial external rotation is coupled with supination or inversion of the foot.
YOU NEED BOTH! Many people with flat feet think they need to wear arch support shoes. What they forget is that your feet need to pronate and supinate. Your tibia needs to internally and externally rotate. Sticking your feet in high arched, stiff shoes only allows your feet to accomplish one end of the range of motion. It's not functional. It will actually make you more stiff. It will cause more injuries and aches and pains in the long-run.
So, work on both! It can help ease your #plantarfasciitis , #kneepain and #hippain
