Күн бұрын

In this video I'll guide you through a series of simple exercises that anyone can do, that will help improving balance and body coordination.
Balance exercises help you improve health, mobility and confidence. With constantly shifting your weight back and forth you’ll get more familiar and comfortable with being able to balance in different positions. Balance has to be trained along with strength, endurance and flexibility, it will keep your body and brain fit and healthy not only for the duration of your career but life.
Having good balance is important for everyday life, not only dance, we do many activities throughout the day as simple as walking, leaning over to tie up our shoes and going up and down the stairs. Balance exercises can also benefit older adults to prevent falls and fractures. For dancers balance is a key element.
These exercises will help you bringing awareness to your body through space, improve agility and reaction time in your muscles, improve coordination, promotes joints stability (ankles, knees,hips and shoulders alignment) therefore can prevent a whole spectrum of injuries including sprained ankles and knees problems.

I want to thank you for making ballet available for everyone to learn. After 30 years of having arthritis; doing your exercises has made me more limber and reduced my pain. And I get to do what I always wanted to do, some ballet (no matter what I look like). :)

Thank you, Alessia, for this workout. As I have problems with my back, at certain lower-back-positions I lose control over my right leg. Your workouts help me so much to work on more stability and to get more confindence in my ankles and feet 😃 I'm so glad, having found your channel ...👍Greetings from Switzerland

This is brilliant thank you! I suffered a stroke this summer which has wrecked my balance completely. As an international figure skater, my balance was always very good and so the basic balance exercises are useless in me trying to get my balance back. This is perfect as i thought "who will have the best balance? Ballet dancers!" Thank you, first time doing it, i fell over within two seconds.

Rhiannon, I'm so sorry to hear about your stroke! I can see tho that you haven't let yourself down for this. You are a strong, motivated and disciplined woman and I know you'll get back in perfect shape in no time. We are all here to support you and help you as much as we can. Take one exercise at the time, regain confidence and control of the body slowly. You are already on the right track! I really wish you a speedy recovery and sending healing vibes your way! Remember one step at the time. Lots of love Alessia

Hello ^_^ , Today was the first day I tired 2 of your videos.. so 'simple' but so hard! Im having a very frustrating time trying to balance without falling out of it a few seconds after, I've recently started adult ballet. I can't wait to see improvements in class. I'll add your videos to my daily routines. THANK YOU!! Martina

Hi there! I am so happy to have found your video clips to improve ballet and posture. I have started ballet last year. My biggest weakness is arm placements with routine (I am fine with arm placements when standing still and doing slow sequences, it is the faster ones that throws me off guard) and definitely by the looks of yesterdays class my balance. I nearly fell over a few times with travelling sequences. (Pretty embarrassing when you are in the front of the class and as tall as I am. Anyways... going to stand at the back next time.) I have been doing Yoga for 3 years as well, and it is like my balance just gone off and left me. (How bizarre right.) My balance some days are good and then yesterday was just a total disaster which breaks my focus to my arms and posture. I will definitely use your videos to help that. So thank you so much for these! I think it is just a case of practice makes perfect or at least better.
@lazydancertips
@lazydancertips 7 жыл бұрын
Bianca, don't give up, balance is tricky and very unreliable, especially for women around period time. It seems that everything you know, some days, is just somewhere lost in a storeroom of the brain. Don't worry! Also falling on your butt is good, if you don't test your limits you'll never know how far you can go, and anyways you can't fall further than the floor! I had some pretty spectacular falls myself , on stage, dancing solo....oh well, we are human beings, mistakes can happen :D When you feel you are having one of these days concentrate on core and arms coordination, go back to basics and take it slow. The moment you get frustrated with yourself and your body you won't go anywhere and, your work in class, completely out of the window. If it's a no day, don't turn, find your balance in passe' and focus on what is not in the right place, in adagio think about your supporting leg, etc. Breath, take your time and focus. :D You can! Wish you all the best and keep me updated on progress! Ciao Alessia :)

And while this was challenging I did enjoy it 😃 I didn’t have a little ball like you had so I used one of my kids rolled up socks lol thank you for the challenge I look forward to your other exercise...I just saw you have a pool one! 🙌🏼

You should still do this on relévé. It will help more with balance in turns because obviously you're on your toes to turn so doing it flat-footed will only help with flat-footed things like leg holds, etc.

How long does it take to improve because I have dance auditions for a recital in two weeks
@lazydancertips
@lazydancertips 8 жыл бұрын
Hello There , well improvement always depends on how much you train and especially how determined you are to achieve a goal, I cannot give you a specific time as it all depends on you. Dance is a self discipline, and as much as your teacher tells you what to do and how to do it , it all depends on you and how quick you are to pick up the corrections and put them to practice. Enjoy the audition, no matter the result, what they need and want most of the times in an audition is out of our hands. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are a bad dancer, maybe only not right for that particular role. So have fun and take everything you need from each experience in life. In the main time keep practicing to fulfill your dream. All the best Alessia :)

In your honest opinion do you think it is too late to start dance at the age of 15 ?
@lazydancertips
@lazydancertips 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Tara, glad you asked that question. It's never too late to start dance, what you need to bring with you in the studio is will to learn, passion, and lots of patience. Things at first will not be easy but if you are determined to achieve something, you can do whatever you dream of in your life. If you are passionate about dance, every time you hear music your first instinct is to move around and let those notes take you on a fabulous journey, then go for it! Never give up on dreams. And remember that dance is an amazing discipline that will get you ready for every challenge you'll find on your path. Work hard and don't give up! All the best Tara and if i can help you with anything let me know! Ciao Alessia
