I have commented here before several times Gen, this content is definitely your forte. You simplify the whole process when you do this type of content. When people see me chip they ask if Stevie Wonder was my teacher! I will practice your technique now and see if I can improve. More of these please!! 🙏👍

@@GenevieveLingGolf Gen, you are a genius!. I’m on the practice ground as I’m writing this having just finished chipping practice. The first couple of chips using your technique caught me by surprise because I’m not used to making such clean contact with the ball, but then I got used to it. It’s brilliant, I can actually chip now. I’m considering contacting our new King Charles to recommend you for a damehood.

Higher percentage shot! Not a lot of people like to do that because they like to see chips spin but I'd rather see chips go close to the hole than produce fancy spinning shots so you've got the right idea there, I would say! 😉

Great fundamentals. The golf swing is based in the core. Us club golfers tend to get handsy around the green. Nice to see you.

Nailed it straight away. Bad chips and bad putts come from moving the lower body all over the place. The other fault I see is a back swing that is far too long followed by a de-cel into the ball. Knew a guy who always chipped with a 60 and a long swing that de-celled. He would duff it and then hit the ball a second time with his follow through. We called him 'Ding Dong'. It got so bad that when he was chipping I had to turn my back on him and not watch. When was the last time you had a Ding Dong Gen? I haven't done it for a few years 🤣🤣🤣

Very first time a coaching method has presented this logic way of playing chips. Same club, same speed, just back & forward club mouvement at same distances . I noticed that your ball always dropped more or less at 50% of the distance between you and the hole….correct ? . ❤🎉 …from Montréal, Canada…..slowly we’re getting in spring season (ie) golfing
@DS-gj9lz Жыл бұрын
I like this idea a lot. Instead of thinking hitting stronger or faster for different distance chipping, simply use longer back and forward swing with same speed. Very good idea, thank you.

Good video. Nothing is worse than hitting a good drive and decent iron shot then hitting a chip shot fat. Short game is everything.
@MPerski Жыл бұрын
It appears that, unlike a full swing which requires a lot of rotation, you minimize the body rotation with your chip. Is that true? Therefore, is a chipping stroke a more “straight back and through” shot? I heard one should take the club straight back, but ROTATE through after impact. Thoughts? Also, I just watched another video this week that suggested TURNING the RIGHT FOOT IN, to promote NO rotation in the backswing. What do you think about that? Great vid, as always, Gen 👍🏻 Spring is finally here in the Midwest 💐 and I will finally be able to get outside and swing a club soon, after a long Winter ⛳️🏌️♂️ Looking forward to more “Golf with Gen” once I get back onto the course
@GenevieveLingGolf Жыл бұрын
I don’t think you minimize rotation in a sense. Just because it’s a smaller swing, so less rotation is needed than for a full swing, but I think it’s the same motion, just potentially in a smaller amount (if that makes sense 🤔)

Great video Gen! Very well explained and I can see you preach what you teach. Now that you explained the basic skills of chipping, I like to see you expand (part ll) to the more advance parts of chipping... one bounce and check... softer landing pitch, etc.

P.S. was impressed with your swing down-the-line when gapping your clubs on the range, noticed on the backswing the club gets a little behind you, is that something you're working on? Looking at the preshot routines of most PGA tour pros they're fighting it too.

Thank you Gen! Also. Is your club more open than square for a ‘standard’ chip shot ? For example with your 46 degree wedge?
@GenevieveLingGolf Жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony! That's going to depend on you! You can start with a square face and play around with it once you are able to judge what a square faced 46 degree (for example) is going to do, then see how it differs with a bit of an open face and closed face. Generally, what it should do is allow for a lower and higher ball flight ☺

Great video, thanks for this! That last chip you did looked like it was pulled a little more left than your first three chips. I find that happens to me on longer chip shots vs shorter ones. How would you fix that?

Although not too much acceleration on chip downswing, one absolutely cannot slow down on chip downswing or you will hit the soil.

Do you open up the club and/or stand with a more open stance when chipping?
@GenevieveLingGolf Жыл бұрын
You can in many instances but what I’m showing here is the basic chip shot, the “highest percentage” shot so for this one, you can be pretty square to start off with!

@GenevieveLingGolf Жыл бұрын
Yeap, smooth tempo is the key I think. Because when I say "don't decelerate" people tend to accelerate to avoid decelerating. Haha if that makes sense 😂
