Nice build. UMI stuff is great. I'll be following along for sure. If the frame is still loose I'd recommend reinforcing the front sway bar mounts. The bar just bolts to the frame which has simple tapped holes. They can weaken/strip over time, and people have had them tear out with big sticky tires (1st gens are worse). Keep up the great work. Its nice watching a car video where its just work being done and no drama and nonsense.

People are hating on leaf springs hard lol. Glad you’re sticking with them. People hate on them for drag racing too but even in my heavy full size truck they work great with the proper parts from Calvert racing

Glad you guys went with leafs instead of a 4 link. I would have preferred to see a torque arm or something, but leafs can be made to work very well if you do it right.

I see you're running mini tubs, but you are using stock location spring hangers for those leafs. How do you plan to take advantage of the extra room from the mini tubs if the leaf spring is still in the way?

Why do the upper arms have heim joins and the lower arms have urethane bushes?
@rameywomer3139
@rameywomer3139 Жыл бұрын
We've tried lower a-arm rod ends and they just don't have the strength we need for harsh racing applications. The Delrin bushings are very smooth and non binding in the lowers so it's a good material choice. Up top for the pivot we like the rod end in the race arm.
@CrankAddict
@CrankAddict Жыл бұрын
The upper arms are the adjustable ones for the stock setup as well. This setup gets rid of the shims that are normally used. Disassemble the tie rods and turn when you are ready to adjust. No need to adjust the lowers.

@@brendannunya77 The lower arms are fixed. Non adjustable. Both camber and caster are adjusted at the upper arm. The spring attaches to the lower, so this is the safe way to do it. The factory uses two different shims to adjust caster and camber on the upper. This company is using two rod ends to adjust the camber and caster, and the cross shaft is bolted solidly to the frame.

Because all the suspension parts they bought are designed to be attached to a standard subframe. Making a tube frame would add a whole new load of time-consuming work which it appears is not justified for this project. They might add sub frame connectors at some point.
