dopamine detox is abstaining from all addictive activities that raise your levels of dopamine too high. The idea behind the detox is to stop being dependent on activities like social media, video games, gambling, and other addictive behaviors.

I am now getting to the end of the tunnel and I can tell you my life has improved In every aspect. Dating, health, goals, mentally I feel fantastic and confidence is through the roof. And weak willpower, it's still you who chose to go on your phone. Dopamine is a product of how our brain (you) processes information, you chose instant gratification instead of earned gratification, which is a sign of weak willpower. Btw I postpone chores as well but I find it encouraging to know that I'm fully in control and that it's my fault if I sit on my phone, if I blame my phone then not only will I be avoiding responsibility and become even lazier, but I will start to dislike something which brings me joy.

24 hour dopamine fast is an instant gratification way of doing dopamine fast. Instead, you should try to do lifelong dopamine reduction, where you reduce all instant gratification activitiea by 80%
@theunholybanana4745
@theunholybanana4745 Жыл бұрын
I think the point of a dopamine fast it to reset dopamine levels so you can enjoy things more the next week, never enjoying anything won't reduce dopamine levels but will instead release more dopamine from simpler things, which isn't fun since you have a constant state of slightly above average, instead of an average state of average but sometimes happier and sometimes less happy. It's the opposite of how drug addicts only get joy from their drug of choice.

@Andre-zg8wg
@Andre-zg8wg Жыл бұрын
There is no list. The less you do and consume the more eficient the detox is gonna be. Try to stay 24 hours in bed. No lights, no phone, no water, nothing! Its a nightmare. Because you are allowing the body to do a more aggressive detox. Every activity or movement you do, sooner or later, more or less is gonna promote dopamine. Even pain promotoes dopamine because your body naturally gets motivated to overcome that pain. So the level of detoxing is gonna depend how much are you willing to suffer from a extremely boring useless day.

Valuable Alternative To Be More Practical: Dopamine Fast Lite Gist: begin by looking at your OWN behavior, and eliminate what is most stimulating for YOU. Video games are addictive for me, so I avoid them; porn on the other hand isn't all that stimulating for me, so I watch it every now and then without much issue. Follow up by analyzing YOUR goals--figure out what stimulating behavior is creating mental obstacles between you and your goal, then eliminate them. Side note: occasional dopamine spikes are okay. Your baseline dopamine cravings are based on your AVERAGE level of dopamine release day-to-day. Anything you can limit in terms of hours-per-day and days-per-week is okay; anything you cannot control yourself around needs to GO.

In my opinion dopamine detox is a temporary fix. If you want the results to be permanent, you need to stop the behavior that release so much dopamine (quitting social media for example. And when I say quit, I mean delete the account forever) . It's like cigarettes, you need to stop doing them forever unless you want to relapse.

I would agree about "eating healthy" in the Do Not Do Tier. It's the same as "Drinking water", in my opinion, it doesn't have a negative impact. BUT, the thing is it would be negative if the proportion is big (or maybe like 4x eating for a day), like you can't control it. This "Eating healthy" is more subjective that actually the negative cases are less than you think. Many cases like "overweight" are caused by junk food. SO the best is B Tier not in A Tier. Exercising too. It can be in Do Not Do Tier. BUT, it depends on the person. Some individuals sacrifice some activities that are important in order to do excess exercise. Also, some of them do it for the sake of compliments from others (it's more arrogance than confidence), not for a healthy body. The dopamine comes out with a different purpose. But yeah, i think the cases are less. SO, the B Tier is right.

One suggestion is to change the bottom tier from “do not do” to “do not avoid”

Would I be allowed to knit during a detox? It's not addictive and I dont like it THAT much, I just dont hate it and it's not that boring

If you are referencing Huberman, then you know that work actually does spike dopamine even if you don't enjoy it. Which is why so many people can burn themselves out even if they are disciplined during the work week but party hardy on the weekends. So work should definitely be S tier if you are serious about a dopamine detox.

With the detox, you'll stop doing these addictive activities for a set period, which is often recommended to be around 90 days.
