These signs are great for actors to learn. No matter how well you can deliver lines, if your body language isn't convincing, your performance won't be convincing. While delivery of lines marks the difference between a bad and okay actor, body language marks the difference between an okay and good actor. Just try to display the signs your character is supposed to be feeling in the scene and you will see a big improvement in how much more convincing your acting is.

A helpful trick I learned that has helped me quite a bit during business meetings is to look at peoples faces when other people are talking. When a person is talking, watch the other people in the group and pay attention to who is looking at them and who is not. It gives you a good insight into conflicts and power-plays amongst the people in the group. You will notice that people look at the speaker when they are aligned with them, but will look away or look down when the speaker is someone they don't care for or someone they feel dominant over. I've used it over the years to give me an indication of a group's dynamics and it's surprisingly accurate. And it gives you an idea of how people feel about you when you're the speaker.

Another thing to notice, is that people will often take the same body posture in a given room or small group. Watch who changes first and see who follows that posture. It can be crossed legs or arms. There can be people back to back and not able to see each other. Eventually, unless they are both alpha, one will take the others posture. So another rule is don't assume their posture is actually their own. Wait to see other peoples posture to see if they are mimicking someone or taking the pose themselves.

I feel like these body language tips don't always apply. Maybe with strangers or acquaintances, but less with close friends and/or family. Some body positions are more comfortable than others for different people, and relying on a body language to sense someone's feelings towards you can be very unreliable. As both an example and a statement: confusion and conveying confusion through bodily language was barely addressed besides the shoulder shrug, but other actions of mine like a head tilt or furrowed eyebrows (or often, both) will indicate more that I'm confused than a lack of trust or belief. It reflects more of a lack of knowledge with me. Another separate example would be the raised eyebrows. It doesn't always mean excitement or happiness for me, it can also sometimes mean a "Oh really?" (both sarcastically and literally). Last one: I saw someone mention that we mimic other people's behaviors, and I find that to be very true. My music friends and I, when we sit in a line and are watching a performance, we end up crossing our legs and usually end up crossing them the same way, and shifting which way they're crossed at some point based on comfort. But none of it is as a result of unhappiness or distrust of the friends sitting to the side the thigh is pointing to. I honestly didn't need to write this whole thing, but I felt that I should, it's important to take personal difference into account too, and that wasn't really stated as much in the video. Although I know most of the viewers will know, I still felt like it should be said. If anyone else reads this, what emotion and body language connections do y'all have that aren't addressed in the video?

Videos like these are what shape the norms, you start looking for the said signs in others and avoid making them yourself, then in time people become conditioned to the said signs(unconsciously) which makes them all the more accurate. So having seen these signs which you can't unsee because it went into your unconscious mind, your body will have a wider range of motion(comfort and discomfort/stress wise)so you'll surely be experiencing the said signs pretty soon.

Dregorin i will give you an example american men and european men have different ways of sitting that is accecpted in their cultures. American men prefer to sit on a chair with their the ankle of one foot on the thigh of the other. But a european man would simply sit with his legs crossed. post ww2 american military officials realised that had the german ss realised this many of their spies would have been caught. Also to my knowledge most major studies of body language have been done only in the north america or western europe. so it is difficult to say whether that research based in the west would be equally applicable in asia and africa.

I think I have a built in body language sensor. If I know the basics about a person or I've just seen them interact with someone or something I'm able to tell how they feel or what they're thinking. The easiest emotions to figure out is fear, nervous and sad since people usually hunch down a little and kind of squish their body together so they're just in one tiny ball and so people are less likely to notice them.

For the head leaning : it depends on which side the head goes. The left brain controls the right part of your body and the right brain controls the left side of your body. Left brain = analystic, reason, logic & right brain = love, passion, intuition. So, if your head is leaning on the left side when you are looking at someone, this means you feel comfortable or you like the person. On the other hand, if you lean your head on the right side, you aren't comfortable with the subject that is being discussed or you don't like the person. Although, you have to look at other signs as you already said ^^

In Germany we call the knee clasp "So!", because thats what we say when we want to leave. We hit both laps or knees with our flat hand and just say one fast "So!" and go

The feet parts can get confusing when you have adhd or some mental disease like it. Hyperactivity could make they’re feet bounce or shake either when they want to run out of the situation, or they’re mind is in a completely different situation. I would know because i have really bad adhd, and when my teacher basically put me on the spotlight and insulted me one time, my feet with moving so fast, my face was in a hand, and the other was crossed on the desk. and everything else but my feet were completely still, and my feet were bouncing endlessly. Conclusion: feet bouncing depends on the situation they are in for whether its positive or negative. It will usually just help blood flow to the brain somehow(idk, im not a physicist). aka when they are thinking alot and not acting on their thoughts

Jackie in smash bros you learn to predict other peoples moves so you can counter. If ur good at it you can probably read people in real life. This mostly works against other players instead of cpu in game.

This knowledge seems like more a curse than a blessing. I mean, you can be talking to someone about a game or something else you like and they do something, you notice it, and whether they like or dislike you off of that will always change the mood then youre overthinking things when you walk away

While remembering all the things I do, like reading my own body language I confirmed that I live in discomfort and hardly a little confidence, because also the lack of confidence in different aspects of my body language equals that my lack of confidence is almost at 95% around every day of the week, and just a few points to add to the video, when looking to the side I do it because I am interested or very interested on what the person I'm talking with is saying, the same happens when I squid, I'm just focused on what the person is telling, by the way great video, is the first one I watch from you and I look forward on watching more

When you're an Empath it's just weird because not only do you know what they feel without them showing little to no signs of emotion but you feel how they feel from the energy they radiate It has its benefits when you're around happy people you feel their happiness but it also has its disadvantages such as feeling another person's stress But the biggest advantage is that if you know the person you're sensing you know what triggers what and in a way it's like a type of mind reading
@xllxah4 жыл бұрын
yeah definitely! despite the disadvantages it’s actually pretty cool being an empath

I train calisthenics 2 years and I can tell you that rounded shoulders dont got almost anything to do with bodylanguage. 99% its from bad body posture wich you get by sitting at computer chair and by time leaning forward and letting your shoulders to collapse weakening the muscles that are holding them back - ( bet you just straightend up in your chair). Also you dont get it over night so you cant fix it over night. It took me 1 year to fix my right rounded shoulder. I almost looked like quasimodo when you would look ate me from my right.
