Master, can we perform poomsae as meditation practice? If yes, how, and what should be our goal? Should it be more explosive or chilled? I would also like to humbly ask for permission to suggest that you posted more videos teaching techniques or even just talking about Taekwondo history and philosophy. You have a great sense of humour, lots of knowledge and a real knack for natural communication. As much as I love (and never miss any) Topic Tuesday, I do really enjoy when you play with other formats. I do know it takes a lot of time to record and edit all thos creative takes, so no pressure here! Thank you so much for all your effort and wisdom!

My two cents worth re: Taekwondo handshake: When you look into early Korean clothing, it was loose robes with long sleeves for men and women. I am guessing that the handshake evolved so the left hand can hold the sleeve back for the right hand.

Thanks for these 'Topic Tuesday' discussions. I have a possible topic: I understand that each poomsae has a theme. For example, Taegeuk Il Jang speaks to sky/heaven, the stances are short and upright (reaching to heaven) - and this should encourage power development in the short tall stances. My question is: how do you integrate the other elements into each poomsae? What should I aim for in Taegeuk Ee Jang to have external gentleness and internal power? Do you have any general guidance on how to incorporate these themes into poomsae practice and performance?

Thank you for addressing senior training. I have been implementing your suggestions and have been surprised to see how enjoyable paddle sparring has been to the seniors. Do you find round house or side kick more difficult for older students to learn to execute with proper technique?
@tkdguide
@tkdguide 5 ай бұрын
The roundhouse is typically easier because you can throw it at a 45 degree angle and it is still a functional kick. The side kick is more of an all or nothing kick and the hip needs to fully turn over in order for it to function.

What I've learnt in this video: karate is KKK, lubricate before stretch, shake and bow. Jokes apart, we' to face our age. Someday we'll be unable to perform in the same way of we were able to do in our youth. This happens in every martial art and sport. On the other hand, martial arts and sport can improve radically the body performance of aged people who decide to start to practice.
