Hi there, I am a solar installer by trade and just getting into diy wind turbines and love what you are doing! I love scavenging used materials and Frankenstein projects, looking forward to seeing how this turns out!

I like the 1930-1970's Gear myself. From US UK Australia they were a lifeline for many Farms & Rural communitues everywhere. When two lights & a radio were a real Luxury.

Not hard to make improvements on power to a MW&S freedom. Can't wait to see the results

How much wind do you need for it to start producing?

Since I'm going to be tying it up different it's a little hard to say yet, but before it really only needed about 10mph to start making a little power.

Still didn’t sold it hey , 🤔💭maybe if you change it to a hydro generator and put it on eBay…( the pole resting on that washing machine is symbolic right) 😉

Nice stuff. Are you not conserned about high winds over revving? Not so familiar with all of your videos, have you used self tilting tails? If too high wind blows, the tail tilts and turns the turbine away from the wind. Brakes can do only something.

With these small turbines they can spool up to the point of self-limitation without causing damage to the turbines themselves, though that does tend to cause havoc with the rest of the system. My Heli and i2000 both furl by tilting back out of the wind, but it's not often needed.
