Thank you for this!! I love how you emphasize the importance of quality flight time!!! Another thing that helps tremendously is networking and making friends with the people who fly at those airlines. I've been told by several major airline pilot friends that everyone who applies to for an airline pilot job will be a pilot already. The key is to differentiate yourself from the competition and show them that you would be a great ambassador for the airline/company you want to fly for by the things you do when you're not flying!

Civil Air Patrol. As an orientation pilot I built hundreds of hours with cadets. Private pilots can do this. Great way to volunteer for your community and get free flight hours in nice C172, 182, 206 airplanes

I liked the video, even though I expected tipps for pilots on how to improve your CV (the written form) since many people, myself included, are struggling with that. But maybe thats an idea for another video :)

Hauling checks went away after 9/11 (legally, after 2004). Requiring physical checks caused a real problem when all the planes were grounded! In addition to hauling blood I know the big medical labs (eg labcorp) have a big fleet. Don't know much else about them though.

Very informative video! Thank you. Would you consider flying xc in a club 172 or archer as quality time? Some of my xc trips have been over 400 nm. I'm working on my CPL now and closing in on 700 tt with around 440 xc. Some of that time has also been in an arrow and SR22.

Living in Seattle, I’ve noticed that there are a number of small, tourist/charter airlines that do small seaplanes; even some classics like Beavers. I was told that larger airlines love that sort of thing because you have to be so conscientious of things like FOD and other objects in the water, as well as doing very unpredictable stick and rudder flying. What is your opinion on that; would that be “quality”?

Which ForeFlight subscription do you have Jason? I just have the basic one, but I get quite nervous about having an engine failure at night over non lit areas, or having faulty instruments in IMC and sometimes I wonder if I should upgrade so I can get an extra attitude indicator in the cockpit and the 3d terrain mapping feature, so I wonder which subscription you use? Great videos, you’re the man!

If possible, avoid flying at night and IMC single engine.

Pretty good info until getting to to the regional seniority number part. American wholly owned pilots are jumping nonstop right now because mainline won't pick them up outside of flow. They're instead choosing to advance their seniority numbers on different carriers.
