I dont understand why equation 10 works for objects that have different masses… if you rearrange to get v1-v2 = -(v1’-v2’), it looks like the velocity is converted 1:1, but since different masses have different momentums at the same velocity, wouldn’t the difference in velocity change after the collision? For example, a really tiny mass at a high speed hitting a really large mass would cause the small mass to decrease in velocity significantly but the large mass velocity increases barely, meaning the difference of their velocity would be lesser after the collision

Ninth grader here as well! I think we’re just going to be repeating stuff but learning just a bit more each time. My chemistry, computer science and physics teachers, all agree on the fact that each of the grades’ books have been advanced and we’re learning something above our level.
