Thanks for taking the time to make this video Keith. Much appreciated. IMS $200 more than 15 litre Acerbis but obviously better quality.

Good job, nice and simple. Some thing I just made work for anyone wanting to keep the stock 90° fuel fitting, instead of the straight coupler that comes with the Acerbis tanks because of the thinner tank plastic. Is I just used a pipe cutter to cut some length off the stock fitting, and was able to keep it instead of having to route the hose straight down with the new tank.

@keithjob5 жыл бұрын
I've only done about 700km on this bike, but today it averaged 23km/L over 200km. That was highway, dirt roads, fire trails and some single track. So theoretical range is 390km. For the sake of planning I'd be working on 20km/L so 340km per tank. Obviously depends enormously on the terrain and gearing. I was using 15/50 today. Previous 14/50 returned about 21.5km/L.

Keith, I've been told today that there isn't enough clearance between the underside of the IMS 17 litre tank and the spark plug boot on the 500. Consequently, the boot and/or the plug insulator can be damaged, leading to ignition issues. What is your experience with this please?

Hi Keith Any thoughts about the pros and cons of a long range tank versus a 9Lt fuel bladder if just adding one? thanks David
@keithjob Жыл бұрын
In my books the bigger tank wins every time. The fuel is where it needs to be, the weight will automatically stay low (lower than a bladder on the back), it is not going to leak, and you don't have to muck around with the actual refuelling on the trail. Down side is it is heavy when full, but you don't have to fill it for every ride. The actual tank weight difference is negligible.
@chasp_07844 жыл бұрын
Nice mate, does it ever have any trouble getting fuel from the bottom of the right side over to the pump side when it’s running low?

Can someone tell me what is the biggest available capacity tank available for the 500 in liters. Also I've hear there is a engine side case extension that gives the engine more oil capacity. Is this true?
@keithjob2 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, the largest tanks are from Acerbis with a 20L tank to fit 2012-2016 models. 2017-on the Acerbis is only 15L, which is why I went with IMS at 17L. Pretty sure that is the biggest tank for 2017-on model 500's. More oil capacity - yes, via a different clutch cover. Rhino make them (+260ml), Hinson, and probably a lot more manufacturers.
