Hi Evie! Thank you for the special shoutout it was a pleasure meeting you as well. I can attest my mother suffered from hair loss along her hair line as a result of high tension hairstyles. Ever since I told her about Evie and her advice to wash her hair daily we have seen a drastic change in her hairline! My mom has regained so much confidence and I’ve been washing my hair more often myself noticing my curl pattern becoming more defined even with heat trained hair! Please don’t knock it until you try it🫶🏾

Go ahead, Daijah and Daijah's mum! Congratulations! I myself have been taking Evie's lead this year with daily shampooing and conditioning and my scalp and 4C hair love it! My hair is more pliable, so it has stopped breaking ; since my follicles are cleansed, it has allowed my strands to grow faster. I leave some conditioner on my hair, then I use a blow dryer on high heat/high speed afterwards. Sometimes I use a concentrator attachment to really get the airflow to my scalp since I have very dense hair. It works better for me, personally, than a diffuser. Evie's advice is golden! Thanks, Miss Aswiti !

The most I’ll do is once a week. With washing my waist length hair everyday in the cold climate I live in, I’ll be chronically wet all the time. And I’m not keen for so much heat. I think if your hair is short or depending on your hair porosity it can make sense to be able to wash everyday. Yes, other races wash their hair everyday or multiple times a week but that’s because the oils from their scalps travels down their hair shaft really quickly. With coily hair it doesn’t travel as fast so our hair can be cleaner for longer. I’m not in the “dirty hair grows” club but I’m not in the “everyday wash” club either. Part of healthy hair is hydration which can come from washing but also for having the most fragile of all hair types, low manipulation and penetration of oils with nutrients to maintain hair strength and structure is necessary. And with the latter, I think with constant stripping of oils with more frequent washing in a week works against what most black women want to achieve which is length retention

Too many people use 4+ products. It really doesn't take all of that. Great content. I’ve been washing my hair and scalp once a week for a few months and my hair has been thriving. This week, I plan to start washing 3 times a week. Your videos on this subject inspired me to look deeper into this subject and what I’ve come to understand is that: 1) Our scalp is very similar to the skin on the rest of our body and 2) Bathing should occur, at a minimum, every 2 to 3 days. So, shouldn’t our hair washing/scalp cleansing regimen match how we care for the rest of our skin? Also, water hydrates the scalp and hair, thus eliminating the need to purchase all these “moisturizing” products for our hair. I plan to keep my regimen simple: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, and a styler. I’m excited to see how my scalp and hair react to this method. Thanks for planting the seed!

@taylornikii2 ай бұрын
I think people are hesitant with washing more frequently because they assume the routine that they do once a week they would have to do everyday. Washing your hair more than once a week can help reduce the amount of time spent detangling. The reason why detangling the hair is such a hassle on wash day is due to having too much product buildup. Refreshing the hair by washing theoughout the week will help keep product to an all time low and you can avoid excess breakage, fairy knots and shedding. Also, heavy products on scalp can cause excessive hair shed (that you may find normal, but isnt). The only issue thing that might get tiring is just if you are bothered by wet hair. Lol

I personally wash my hair daily because of my OCD but for our hair texture, it’s not ideal to wash our hair daily since it’s more prone to dryness. Sebum has a harder time traveling down afro textured hair strands. And I recently learned that every time we wash our hair, it loses protein
