This one might spark a bit of controversy, but I'm here to explain why the designs of the Ultimate Aliens *aren't as bad as people tend to believe*. I'm not sure how others feel about this, but I actually prefer the Designs of the Ultimate Aliens from Omniverse. They look like wild and grotesque mutations, something that's just struggling to barley function, which I feel perfectly somes them up. They were basically forced to evolve, so it makes sense that they aren't fully developed the right way. Like someone forcibly stretching out your limbs to make you taller, but you end up looking like Ryuk from Death Note.

Yup. The Ultimates being freakish monstrosities works best. They aren't just stronger versions of the aliens, but monstrous versions of sapient species artificially made by simulating these people being forced to adapt to the absolute worst situations possible for them. They aren't people anymore, but living weapons made by a near-sociopathic genius: they should be freakish.

God, just imagine if someone of their Species saw the Ultimates. Like if Saul (The Ultimate Humongousaur that escaped the Ultimatrix) met Hugh (That one Vaxasaurian that Albedo worked with) What would that be like? What would Hugh's reaction be to basically seeing his equivalent to an Mutant from X-Men? Would he be scared at what's basically a monster version of his kind? Delighted at the fact he gets to see his Species's Final Form? Disgusted at the fact someone would take his people's biology and twist it into this creature? Confused at what he's even looking at? A combination of all 4 feelings? And what would Saul think? He's basically seeing his equivalent to a caveman. In the words of Semi Perfect Cell, I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!!

We may never know since it is implied that Khyber killed Saul. You see Ultimate Humungosaur's helmet in the background of Khyber's ship. I also wonder what Ben's Necrofriggian children think of Ultimate Big Chill since that is essentially a version of their dad since it is likely the Ultimates might have a piece of Ben's DNA just like all his other transformations.

WayBig would also be another "Reference Ultimate" like Ultimate Rath as AF WayBig is already a reference to Ultra Man, with the Ultimate is a continued reference to that, iirc some upgraded form Ultra Man takes at some point in that enormous continuity. (The look of course, poses he makes, energy beams out the arms, that weird reflective spin attacks, and probably some others I can't remember).

Firstly at 2:52 with ultimates that don't "change all that much", I would remove Ultimate Albedo and Ultimate Articguana as their designs are very different from their original designs, the same as Ultimate Spidermonkey. Instead Rath is a lot more similar in design that Ultimate Albedo and Ultimate Arctiguana, but I don't think it's as similar as the ultimates on the left. Also I see more Ultimate Spidermonkey praise than Ultimate Swampfire. Tbf I don't hear Ultimate Swampfire talked about much in general.

I’m probably one of the few people that like Ultimate Cannonbolt, Big Chill, and Wildmutt. Cannonbolt’s makes sense, even with out there being much of a change. Wildmutt’s since their species are that way through adaptation of their environment, and seem to be capable of surviving almost any environment, to the point that Cannonbolt’s species even mimics them to survive their planet after their original got consumed and destroyed. I don’t even mind the talking thing, kinda intimidating if you knew they couldn’t speak before hand. Big Chill’s ultimate colour reminds me of how somethings in nature have a similar colour to act as a warning, the confusion I had on how it’s powers worked was the only thing I disliked about it. Something resolved now.

My personal favourite Ultimates were Echo Echo and Spidermonkey. Although I do think Omniverse Ultimate Spidermonkey made more sense. It takes Spidermonkey and gives him the super soldier serum.

I also wanna defend the "now mechanical" ultimate Aliens. Smart Species in a desastrous Scenario would abandon everything for Survival, even Morals. So integreating Tech into your very DNA to become stronger would be very likely to happen (ESPECIALLY WITH GALVANS). I do think an ultimate Human would be something like Senator Armstrong paired with a Space Marine with the IQ of Tony Stark and the Ability of planet-size-range Telepathy. The Ability to transfer information is SO important for us, I wouldn't be surprised if we would implant Internet access into our Brain if needed.

To be fair I read a theory about Vulpimancers lips, some say only juvenile Vulpimancers have lips, while adult have these weird outside fangs, this theory suggest the lipless Vulpimancers are subspecies that originate from Null-Void, main arguments are that we see Ben 10 000 turn into vulpimancer and it has full lips while other that we see are from Null-Void or spend some time there

I don't particularrly like some of the ultimates desings( the usual candidates), the UAF artstyle can be so dull sometimes, (though I like Ultimate Cannobolt's metallic look), but this is a really cool way of seeing it, maybe I was too harsh on them 🤔

its also down to cost of making a new figure for bandai to pocket out to get revenue back hence popular aliens Humongousaur, Swampfire, Spidermonkey, Big Chill, Echo Echo were five out of the AF ten to get ultimates cause of their popularity, whereas Jetray and Brainstorm came close to getting ultimates, as Chromastone(which became basically plot device character like Upgrade was in Classic), and Goop(which became the Ripjaws of AF) were lower in popularity to receive an ultimate. Ultimate Alien X is way too OP don't need a dragon ball powerscaling bs in Ben 10. As for Cannonbolt he was an obvious favorite first new alien introduced twice(Classic and AF) and Wildmutt was just there on the table to bring back an alien that was more beastial, cause why have Ultimate Fourarms when we already have U. Humoungosaur and U. Spidermonkey as musclemen. Why have U. Heatblast when Swampfire Ultimate form already is his firefighter. Cost of molding, U. Cannonbolt, U. Humongosaur, and U. Big Chill are just the same molds of their original figures but designed with more kibble(a term used in Transformers toy to describe extra parts on a toy). U. Swampfire, U. Echo Echo, and U. Spidermonkey required new machinery and molding cast for the toys and when the sales didn't meet quota they opted for Haywire figures when they took already preexisting figures and swapped their colors just meet back for lack of sale of Ultimates. Plot purpose yes the show is called ultimate alien but ben rarely used them to be honest, down to animation budget was a way to realistically justify in universe explanation of how they actually scare ben when being them. They came back in Omniverse as Albedo using and no toys were made as far as I know, cause Omniverse kept making so many and frankly some pointless aliens(Bloxx) they couldn't keep up with toy demands. From a creative standpoint Albedo should've kept the Ultimatrix and Ben saved the original omnitrix from Vilgax, while unlocking newer and older aliens during UA run. Cause the whole point of Albedo is being Bens counterpart if not better, when Kevin became an ally they need that rival to Ben. Cause it would show new and creative ways Ben would have to use his original aliens if not bring them back from Classic to fight Ultimates, like Waybig fought off the awakened Ultimates. Imagine Fourarms fighting Ultimate Spidermonkey, XLR8 fighting Ultimate Swampfire, or DiamondHead fighting Ultimate Humongosaur.

I feel like you REALLY missed the mark on U-Spider Monkey Gorillas are incredibly sexually dimorphic animals, with the males dwarfing the females, for the purpose of intra-specific combat against other male gorillas and to protect their families from predators they are animals who evolved for the express purpose of fighting, and we know that this is the case as the evolutionary pressures that made male Gorillas so big do not apply to the females adding this context to an Ultimate form, which is designed for the express purpose of combat by pushing a certain species to the extreme, it makes sense for Spider Monkey to become a gorilla.

Do you guys every wonder about the fact that there are probably more Ultimate Big Chills? Their Species reproduces Asexually, so if that ability wasn't lost through its Evolution process eventually it would make some offspring. So would there just be an entire Race of Evolved Necrofrigains out there in the Universe? That's wild. Also, isn't Charlie (Ultimate Big Chill) technically the father/mother of Ben's Necrofriggian kids?

The issue I take is that they changed the name of the show in anticipation for the ultimates mechanic and showed the capacity to be really creative with the ultimate forms, which just makes it disappointing when the majority of them are basically cosmetic changes, even if it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. I can understand having the occasional ultimate form that’s relatively unchanged, but I think that should be reserved for the extremely powerful aliens like Way Big, and I don’t like how it was slowly becoming the rule more than the exception.

I kinda disagree on a fundamental level. You can look at them in hindsight and say "Yea but they make sense in universe" but you could just as easily have said that if they had evolved differently. Look at ultimate humungosaur. What if his ultimate was just a bigger humungosaur? Well then you could say "Well he speaks for himself, just get bigger to survive!" and it would have been just as valid, but instead they gave him a unique fun ultimate design. To put it differently, there are endless ways the ultimates could have evolved with it still making sense. Some with minor changes, and some with major changes. The major changes are visually more distinct and interesting for viewers, while minor changes come off as lazy and boring. Whether it makes sense in universe is irrelevant because a major evolution could have been just as likely.

The video is called “in defence of the ultimate aliens” but I don’t think you understand the issue people have. People’s problem with the ultimates isn’t that the aliens couldn’t realistically become the ultimates over time, it’s that they’re boring and lazy from a design and functional perspective. You’re essentially fighting a straw man.

As I said earlier, coming up with an in universe reason is all well and good, but it doesn’t actually address the point that the show wasn’t planned or budgeted correctly which lead to bad designs. Because the in universe explanation is kinda pointless when the designs could have been fantastical and still had a great in universe reason.

In my opinion ultimatrix the one in Ultimate Alien series was the incomplete version of ultimatrix and that is the reason why some ultimate aliens (for example ultimate humungasour) lost at least one of their abilities but the thing is that if ultimatrix was fully completed, ultimate aliens wouldnt lost any abilites.

I only partially agree with your explainations, while i agree that some of the things you said make perfect sense i got to say... Others... Not so much. Ill list off a few. 1. The argument you made for aliens like canonbolt makes little to no sense once you realize the simulation is the WORST CASE SCENARIO, which would be different for varios species but always something that species CANNOT combat in their current state. Bearing this in mind... The idea of just doubling down on the thing that is failing you in the face of this problem is not a good idea, there needs to be something more to help you deal with the challenge. Best example being ultimate humungosaurs who loses growing since it was probably not helpful in the face of his simulation but gains RANGED COMBAT capabilities and naural armor that does not need to be grown, 2. Ultima spider monkey i kinda am iffy on for the reason. Sure i get taking the joke to the extreme... If gorillas were monkeys... And if other aliens also were not in a way a 'joke alien' 3. Wildmutt language is dumb, they already HAVE a language. Most species just don't understand it, so i fail to see use there. And while yes, vulpimancers are great survivalists i don't see them survinvg a near apocalimpse tailor made to be the hardest possible thing for them while gaining... Basically nothing? Besides speech which is useless for them given they already had it, all they got was a language change and a slight buff to pure physicality. These were my main 3 gripes, besides those and a few smalker others i loved the vid. Especially the rath point, describing his ultimate as just the honeybadger aporoah was perfect and fits REALLY well for the species who has anger and defiance in their blood, they are the one species that WOULD just double down and still somehow live through the simulation. Cuc its rath.

Would be interesting if instead of individual voice Ultimate Vulpimancers can immitate all sort of sounds to trick enemies like scaring enemies with gun fire noise, drawing enemies with sounds of their allies/civilians or hiding using natural noise. Being able to communicate with enemies may be necessary to negotiating or interrogation.

Even with the explanations the execution *is* the problem. The Omniverse ultimates aren't that bad if anything I like Gravattack alot preferring it over ultimate swampfire however the OG ones were atrocious. Canonbolt could've had a much more interesting metal design but instead they went for the most lazy boring way to do it, Big Chills don't make any sense and give it nothing. Necrofriggen have a predator yet it's ultimate has nothing for it and is just as vulnerable, adding an over the top hot wheels like design that makes it stand out and easy to spot is if anything a major downside for a Necrofriggen. The whole asexual thing isn't the strongest explanation either since we have something like Echo Echo have a drastic change despite just cloning itself it seems and not having a single idea on how it reproduces outside of why would they since they can literally clone more of themselves. Spidermonkey I don't have a problem with but it could've been done much better and honestly I prefer the Omniverse redesign. Greymatter is just a hey look over there it's a reference to another franchise, it's meh and that's all that needs to be said. Rath is okay but it's not super interesting and it has literally done nothing, Wildmutt was completely pointless and of all the OG aliens to go Ultimate they picked Wildmutt? Seriously....

I find most of the ultimates really cool and I wish they did more but there's some which I got an issue with. Ultimate Big chill got gimiced. Your explanation of the Asexual reproduction is good but i still dislike the idea of it. Other ultimates get things that would make sense like Echo-Echo getting sonic disks instead of clones for long range combat, or Ultimate Swampfire getting hotter flames and explosives. Bigchill should have evolved to have more warlike capabilities like tougher wings or the ability to suck the moister out of the air to use higher volumes of ice. I would be happier if the ice he produced was red but they just recolored him. Its unfair

I still don't like Ultimate Cannonbolt or Wildmutt though. They just feel so much like pallette swaps. I mean I get it, you have to keep them recognizable for merch reasons, but more effort on the designs definitely would have been appreciated. I actually like the Omniverse Ultimate designs a lot. They feel so monstrous and unnatural, which makes sense since the Ultimate are basically simulated eugenics. There's a reason Asmuth hates the Ultimate feature, and the Omniverse designs reflect that

The way in which the ultimate evolution works is by placing the individual transformation’s DNA through the endless post apocalyptic war zone for 1 million years Where u went wrong is the transformations aren’t reproducing to create the new evolved transformations While in the simulation the transformation doesn’t age and the genetic modifications are made by the ultimatrix in response to the opponent or obstacle it’s presented with And there are also the 2 rules of an ultimate transformation the colour must change and there must be a power trade off eg ultimate humungosaur can no longer grow in size and his armour plating but now has a protective shell and the ability to fire off unstable bone fragments and partials as projectiles, ultimate swampfire is slightly slower, bigger and heavier and looses his healing factor but now has a far more durable body, is physically stronger and in addition to being able to shot far hotter flames he can now compact them into a flammable tree sap like substance that is highly explosive and ultimate echo echo looses his soft silicone body and ability to duplicate his whole body for a hardened metallic body, flight (sonic levitation) and sound discs that he can duplicate while still keeping his own sonic scream as shown with the sentient evolved sonarosian that escaped the ultimatrix While the rest of the UA ultimates either don’t conform to this or do it poorly, ultimate bigchill gets a fiery reskin a power set that makes no sense (fire so cold it burns), ultimate cannonbolt gets metal armour plating and spikes, ultimate wildmutt goes red and gets spikes on his back and tale, ultimate waybig gets bigger and gets horns, ultimate spidermonkey trades out the monkey for a gorilla and gives him stilts As for the omniverse ones ultimate articguana and gravattack are very good while ultimate greymatter is a smaller parody of MODOK which I don’t hate but it’s a bit lazy to some The InkTank does explain this better than I do and they are have a series where they redesigned so far all but 1 ultimate form but also designed ultimate forms for the rest of the alien force transformations, all the classic series aliens, all the anur (monster) aliens and couple from omniverse

I don’t really see Albedo’s transformations as Ultimates. Since they’re very different from the original ultimates (likely due to art style change and artists) and very weak compared to the original ultimates. Ultimate Humungasaurs and Echo Echo’s attacks for example. And Spidermonkey’s arms. They seem more like evolutions than ultimates. DNAs pushed to evolved rather than put in the same war scenario as before. Considering Ultimate Humungasaur lost its shell which acted as back protection.
