I can't wait for them to expand the languages that are dubbed, we Latin American fans would be very pleased with dubs in Spanish and Portuguese+ we have a wide range of talented voice actors here that would deliver an excellent job

I have similar feelings about Yong Yeah. It's like he was hired to play Batman when he's probably more suitable to play Night Wing

Let's be honest... We all know it's just Infinite Wealth Kiryu.

When I first played Judgment on PS4, I used the English dub. I thought it was really damn good. Greg Chun is perfect for English Yagami. With this series, I tend to do Japanese for the initial playthrough, English for replays. Best of both worlds. If you haven't already, you should hear Robbie Daymond's "Hell Stew" in the English dub of YLaD. It's phenomenal.

You can have a good dub if the vas lean into the campyness of the series or go over the top that makes it work Honestly some anime dubs I like way more than the Jp ones as the VA make the character sound their age

I think the dubs are amazing, but that doesn't change the fact that playing Yakuza games in English just feels wrong to me, and I am the type of person who ALWAYS watches anime and plays JRPG's English dubbed

I agree with Yong Yea being a miscast in Yakuza Infinite Wealth. Haters really focus on the low point of people while ignoring their other works. Just because he's a youtuber shouldn't also discredit him at all. He is a pretty good VA, but people think he shouldn't do it at all just because of Infinite Wealth, which is totally unfair. Wish people give him more of a chance and try to enjoy his other works.

Yeah! Again, I dislike his voice as Kiryu, so much that I went out to mod it out, but I don't hate him as a person and I can still appreciated his other solid works

Sad that you don't know just how much garbage of a person he is, and how many CLICKBAIT videos he put out throughout the years

2:18-2:27 - Not to be a douche, but the real first entry in this series to get a dub for the first time since PS2 Yakuza 1 would be the crossover game known as Hokuto ga Gotoku. Which was released in the west as Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, and likely due to rights issues, is still stuck on the PS4 to this day. As for how good its dub is? Well, while I went for subs for my playthrough for tradition/consistency's sake, plus the fact that RGG Studio intentionally got Takaya Kuroda and Hidenari Ugaki to be Kenshiro and Jagi respectively (among other veteran Like a Dragon VAs that were perfect fits for FotNS characters that have similar roles to their LaD ones), I did check out its dub through someone’s “full movie (all cutscenes)” video on here later on, 'cause I'm a lazy sod. And overall, I'd say Lost Paradise’s dub is on par with the ones for the Judgment duology, and LaDs 7, Gaiden and 8, save for when YongYea has to act and sing in Gaiden and 8, of course (and yes, I saw their dubs on YT out of laziness as well, including 8's Chinese one. And the same will go for the upcoming LaD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii too, if it gets one that is). Coincidentally, before Robbie Daymond became Zhao's English voice, he was Lost Paradise’s incarnation of Kenshiro in English. And ‘cause of this, plus the fact that game has a Kiryu skin as paid DLC, some were saying that he should've been the one to replace Darryl Kurylo instead of Yong. And while my Darryl replacement choices are Keith David or Kevin Michael Richardson, the former especially as there's proof that he can sing, I can see where they’re coming from.

Love the Yakuza dubs. Hell, the Chinese dub was pretty good in Infinite Wealth, but I really don't like Yong-Yea. It's definitely not a terrible performance, but Yong-Yea voice does not fit Kiryu at all. The recast was outta nowhere, too, no one wanted a new dub va for Kiryu

Kiryu in Infinite Wealth is such a blemish on the Yakuza English dub's legacy from 7 man. Everyone is so great in their roles but him, I genuinely felt cheated when I watched the scene after the final boss in IW in Japanese with how much emotion Kiryu had
@TheGameShelf3 ай бұрын
Again it sucks cause it's not a terrible performance, just wasted on an unfitting character that drags down the overall quality with him

I don't think people had a negative viewpoint on 7s dub, though I do remember people going sour towards IW but again its mainly Kiryu the dubs are still bangers. Also I'd love to see your thoughts on the Judgement games

I've been playing English dub since Judgment. It made no sense to me why they gave Darryl Kurylo the role of Kiryu in Like A Dragon 7. I didn't know he was in the game, he was really great. I will never understand why they dropped him for Yong Yea. I don't think Yong Yea is a bad voice actor, he was ok in both Like A Dragon Gaiden and Like A Dragon 8. He was just not good.

I will say Matt Mercer as Majima was also a miscast, but I don’t think it’s a terrible one like YongYea or Tim Friedlander.
