The only thing I love of Shadow the hedgehog game is that it settled that Shadow is left handed. This trait remained very visible in Sonic '06 (see how he moves and how he handles his tools) and was washed out due to the wii controllers.

What I love about Shadow the way he was written in early 2000's was the fact he was unpredictable. First, you saw this cute animal with calico fur colour and a menacing look, excepting something grumpy and violent and then, he was soft spoken, smart and reserved. Once you aknowledge his passive behaviour, his melancholy, lonelyness, his shifty look, how he retreat in his bubble when he feels vulnerable, you foolisly except he is an easy target, then you learn the hard way you're supposed to not mess with him. And still his personality keeps surprising you: nice, loyal and selfless with his friends, reliable, yet also dangerous if he sees you as a possible menace (in Sonic 2006 he was pushed to his limits by several characters. The arrogant but harmless Sabrina was safe. Silver was lucky that Shadow saw through him. Mephiles got his a** kicked), you don't know how to deal with him. And something still keeps telling you he is not evil. He's certainly introvert, but he didn't seem a loner to me. His personality is composed by several elements, positive and negative in a delicate equilibrium that is very easy to break if you're going to write him and you're not good enough. The grumpy, violent and foul mouthed aloof Shadow is a easy shortcut. It might suit the way he looks. But is not authentic, that's not Shadow. I remember when he did beat up Chris, it felt wrong. It still feels wrong when I compare the same scene in SA2 where he quietly listens to Amy. All of his characterization during the '10s (games, comics, animations) feels wrong to me.

Shadow the hedgehog is personally for me my all time favorite Sonic character growing up in my opinion.

Sonic was the edgy platformer mascot, but by the time SA2 came around he wasn't edgy enough anymore. He had cartoons and told kids not to smoke. Shadow was peak 2000s "take thing but make it edgier" which was just what Sega needed for the kids who grew up with sonic and wanted someone that reflected the darkness in their teenage heart. Not surprising there was eventually a backlash since the edgy kids inevitably become less edgy adults, but the series was still marketing towards kids.

They make a reference to CastleVania in Pizza Scare. The treasure is a massive chicken leg just like the ones on castlevania

I had a feeling something like this video was coming around given Shadow's return to pop culture relevance, but getting a whole documentary for the timeline of Shadow's usage is godlike work!

Hopefully with Shadow's return to glory, the Sonic franchise can be steered into a new, revitalized direction that fans will love speaking as someone who only really played both Adventure games and some spinoffs.

Shadow Generations and Sonic Movbie 3 have made me a huge fan of Shadow now since I've been getting more into Sonic because of the movies. Glad to see he's so cool in the modern day

As someone who grew up with Sonic. I swear that the hate on the games were started because of Game Grumps, and it still baffled me that somehow they became the Sonic Ambassadors? No wonder the decline appeared in the 2010s and how the fandom adopted the self deprecating humor that nowadays is still present. Maybe they weren't the whole reason but they were the stepping stone that make Sega misunderstand what the real fans wanted from Sonic and it's characters. Putting so much restrictions that it damaged the franchise. Even their own writers wanted to quit on it. I'm so glad that Sega had time to step back on their way of thinking and fixed most of the stuff. Now Sonic has a new Ambassador that truly love their games and now are lifting their restrictions little by little. We are so back. Sonic and Shadow are back at their prime!

The ending of Conker gets even worse if you think about what Conker may end up doing when he gets home. What is that potential outcome? Well, one idea the devs had for the ending was having Conker... let's just say pull a Red Mist. But that was considered too dark for a game like this. Let's face it, for all the South Park esque adult humor, it's still mostly lighthearted and centered around satirical comedy. To have Conker end his own life would be pushing it a little more than the final release's ending. So they just settled on having Conker all Viva la Vida at the end... a song that would be too fitting for the ending, though.

I'm sorry, but I feel this list was a bit problematic. Now, I could point out smaller issues such as you not blaming your own lack of skill of using a character right to justify putting them on this list, (see Penelo and Sharla for examples of that,) or the fact that Kimahri can actually be pretty useful to the point that you can legit beat the game with just HIM as seen by the fact that people have made videos about successful runs of FFX with him. No, the biggest issue is that Persona 5 section. Not only is it kinda a cop out since you put every single member on the list, even though every entry has been SPECIFICALLY on 1 character per game! (Yet Futaba is an exception DESPITE the fact you said you had a problem with EVRYONE, but hey, who cares about consistency?! 🤪) But the worst part? The fact you admit you only played the base Persona 5, and haven't touched anything related to it since then, kinda gives off the impression that I'm just watching a Civit 2.0 entry on Persona 5 all over again. And we know how awful his Persona 5 video was. In fact, something tells me you only put Persona 5 here because you saw Civit's video, or you saw that people that been trashing on popular games like Persona 5 brings in clicks.
