The very fact we were faked out by the devs of it being a remaster tather rather than a remake i feel helped contribute to the impact of its release. There are so many QOL changes amd tweaks while also being INCREDIBLY faithful is such a good thing and I'm happy that we came out of this with a damn good game. The initial announcement made me cautious, but I am so happy that we are so fucking back.

Something I've noticed that irks me in sound design here is that echo and reverb are severely reduced if not outright removed from many dialogue scenes, it's mostly only really noticeable if you go back and compare, but a ton of the dialogue just sounds like people talking in a recording booth and just being pasted over the game, however in the original a lot of the voices have a reverb effect that definitely sells the atmosphere, it SOUNDS like people talking in the middle of a mall, small room and wide corridors, it's very immersive, in the new one, after comparison there's a big disconnect between the characters talking and the physical spaces they're in

The fact that some of the jank is still there warms my heart. Seeing gameplay of this and 2 bring me back to the early 2000s era of gaming (even if it wasn't always the best). Can't wait to pick this up at some point, I've always wanted to get into Dead Rising!

You know I can understand why people are upset when they make very minor stupid changes that werent really needed. But it always confuses me with these outrage actors when they have to always throw away the baby with the bathwater. Like the most minor 3 second change invalidates an entire game good or bad. If its a huge sweeping change yeah, but alot of times seeing games get entirely disregarded because of the most miniscule change is wild.

I've played Dead Rising 2 and 3, as well as Off the Record on PC. The rough condition of the first game as well as its infamous survivor AI is what mostly kept me off of playing the original first game (I wasn't a fan of the survivor AI being nerfed in Off the Record so I could only imagine what kind of nightmare it was in the original first game). The one other thing I always keep asking myself about the remake is if the convicts keep respawning as they did in the original, which could only exist as a detriment to the player. I hear it still is the case, although reports are inconsistent; sometimes only one convict respawns at a time, other times they all do. I can't imagine why the devs would go out of their way to retain this, as it doesn't even make any sense from a story perspective.

Yeah convicts respawning is still a thing, but for me I feel they only respawned every 12 hours And after a certain point in the story they just straight up disappear

Dead Rising is a fantastic series. First one I got into was 2 because it was on Games with Gold at one point. Been a fan since. I like to pretend that 4 doesn't exist, and I'm sure others do too. This remake was a ton of fun. None of the changed/censored stuff bugged me. When I first heard his voice and his new design the teaser, I was a bit thrown off. However, it's like Chris Pratt playing Mario. After some time, you get used to it. I did encounter an annoying glitch when going for the 5 and 7 Day Survivor achievements. The Entrance Plaza tended to stutter with the framerate whenever there was a psychopath (Paul spawns there). It eventually crashes. This was on Series X. I ended up just avoiding it entirely. Also that damn Special Forces. Hate their stunlock shenanigans.

I recently played the original Dead Rising 1 and 2, and man are they amazing. Dead Rising has a fantastic formula. I've been considering getting Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster since its announcement and have been waiting for the physical version coming next month since I'm a physical gamer, though I did get the Dead Rising Triple Pack digitally since there was no physical release of the three and I was eager. Anyways, great video, and nice to see you being passionate about this game and this series as a whole

The remastered versions from 2016 (besides off the record) got a physical release in America if you're interested in getting them but the remake is great I was going to get a physical copy but couldn't wait till November and I'm having a blast and hope you enjoy it when it releases

As much as I had fun with this game it is NOT a remake it is as it lives up to its name, a REMASTER. If it were a remake we would be seeing an altered story like they did with RE 2 remake , FF7, or RE 4 remake (as you mentioned) where things are familiar but also very different. This game is a 1:1 almost of the original with quality of life updated mechanics. The cutscenes, story, gameplay, are all the same even the music is the same. It is disingenuous to call it a remake

It is a fantastic experience beginning to end. I warmed into the new controls almost immediately and had just as much fun as playing the original, even more in some cases. I have nitpicks for sure but this is a fantastic recreation of the original Dead Rising and both versions are worth playing for years to come! So glad you enjoyed it as well

Absolutely love the energy in your voice! while giving a great summary of the changes, i do agree of the voice acting, Frank's VA was completely fine, but christ, Brad's first lines gave me mild whiplash from the delivery 🤣

the gameplay might have been improved but the game suffered of many unesary changes, you might say that things like the erotica category was unesesary but the game is about doing this stupid things (like running on a treadmill for pp). they also censored for some reason the cultist, they now do a weird pose instead of praying like in the original (instead of being creepy they are just goofy now) and it might not be that important but this types of changes just make this version such a toned down experience. the voices were also shit, either english or spanish the voice acting its just lazy asf.
