I still can't get over how brilliantly the scene transitions and title cards in The Suicide Squad captured the feel of a comic book, just one of the many things that makes it easily make my top five comic book film list. Plus no weak links in the characters, I remembered my friends and I talking about how any one member of the team being someone's favourite was hard to argue with. For me though Polka-Dot Man stole the show, great performance, fun practical effects and man I can't remember the last time I cared that much about a character death in a comic book film.
@rennythespaceguy72859 ай бұрын
I think Polka dot man's story is made all the more powerful by the fact that it's sorta metatextual. Until this movie he was only ever treated as a joke past his debut, anyone who knew him knew him as a joke and he'd get brutalised or killed whenever he'd show up with very few exceptions and the readers were never supposed to care. In a way, far more than any other character who's been given arcs like this in different stories, Polka dot man was a character who didn't have a reason to live as the text he was in never cared for him, him finally being able to see himself as having worth before he dies is so powerful because neither the writers or most readers saw him as having a purpose and despite that he found one himself. I love that the final note for the character is ratcatcher keeping that fragment of his costume because it shows that he managed to make at least one person care about him

Cannot stop watching these “In Defense Of” videos. It’s about time somebody reminds us that these are for our entertainment, not cool point by nitpicking. Injecting some positivity back into the conversation was long overdue.
@Freak80MC9 ай бұрын
It seems like so many content creators like to feed off of negativity and drama, because humans are naturally pulled towards that stuff. It's like junk food for the brain. But when you realize it's not helping, that it's pulling you down with it, and what truly helps you feel better and improve yourself is positivity, you can unlearn that vicious cycle of being drawn to negativity all the time. I used to be subscribed to a lot of drama youtubers and now I rarely watch that stuff. Plus I try to not get drawn into the negativity of the world around me that's constantly pushed into your face in the news and social media. I try to focus on my own little slice of life, what I can control, what I can improve. It really does help. I think most people now a days are stuck in this vicious cycle of negativity and drama pulling them down and that's all they see in the world and so it just feeds into them feeling awful and depressed. Sorry for the rambling comment. Just stay safe ya'll and focus on the positives, however small those may seem. Try to improve your own sphere of influence one little thing at a time. If we all did that, the world would become a much better place. Not to say this is a cure all, but it definitely helps and is a step in the right direction. Enjoy the positives in life, because unlike what the media and people try to tell you, there's a lot in our modern world that has improved for the better and can help bring you joy and meaning!

I know movies getting scrapped happens a lot but every time Batgirl is mentioned I just let out a sigh. That had so much potential especially with Michael Keaton, JK Simmons, and Brendon Fraser.
@ivanagustinortiz52379 ай бұрын
A sigh is the minimum reaction the whole Batgirl situation can generate, you don't just nuke a pretty much already made 90 million dollar movie that sounded better than at least a third of what WB released with the DC IP. You can't convince me that Batgirl would've ruined DC as a brand when these guys released movies like Catwoman.
@marcamusprime95139 ай бұрын
The tone for that film would be confusing for audiences. Her costume looks like a cartoon, but it’s supposed to be in the dark and scary part of the DCEU. And they probably thought that the race swap made her unrecognizable to comic fans. Which isn’t her defining characteristic, but it adds to the confusion. At least that’s what I think the SUITS at WB thought when they cancelled it.
@jayjohnscreations9 ай бұрын
@marcamusprime9513 I would buy that the suits would think something like that. Don't forget that the film was supposed to release post The Flash and feature Micahel Keaton as the default universe Batman. Then they decided to walk back that decision, removing Michael from The Flash's ending and his cameo in Aquaman 2. I'm guessing he was a bit more than a cameo in Batgirl meaning reshoots would cost more than the budget allowed, so they crunched the numbers and decided it would be more financially viable to just scrap it for taxes. Thing is they didn't even need to walk back the Keaton thing cause they were rebooting by the end of that same year, so it wouldn't matter anyway
