Nice,I'm a huge spidey fan and actually I watched all of this ultimate spider-man cartoon, but last time I saw it was when I saw the series finale, I never re-watched any of it since it ended, I would say the best season was season 3 that was the closest time this show felt like a spider man show to me, but overall this show wasn't for me but I'm glad to see some people loved it, it's great for me to see people enjoy anything spidey related, although I'm not a fan of this show but I enjoyed your video about it, l like arrow so I understand how does it feel to like a show that so many people hate 😀😊 anyway, I love you bro, keep it up, your videos are awesome

I will say the later seasons of Ultimate I believe have aged better than the first. But I will always appreciate this series for introducing me to new heroes. White Tiger will always be my favorite to come out of this show.

There’s a reason this was the longest running Spider-Man series and was brought over to the comics and even had a crossover with the main 616 spidey it had a bigger impact than people realize I like that they tried to do something different and unique that no Spider-Man show ever did before

A better explanation is that Disney had a lot of money and spent it on with no hesitation on Marvel. Ultimate Spider-Man sold toys well and got a sizable audience of kids who were entertained by anything with Spider-Man in it because this was the only media featuring Spider-Man outside of comics. Quality does not equate to quantity. Kids were desperate for Spider-Man and this show gave it to them for over 100 episodes. But that does not mean it was good.

This reminds me of Andrew Garfield being disliked among the 3 Spider-Man actor portrayals before (No Way Home Spoiler) his appearance in the new movie. Everyone didn’t like Andrew because they still wanted Tobey and didn’t want Spider-Man changed so opinion on him was manipulated. In this case, Ultimate Spider-Man was Andrew and Spectacular Spider-Man was Tobey.

As you said, highly underrated series! I think why so many people hated this show was the comparison with Spectacular. I grew up on the 90s show but missed out on spectacular when it was airing and honestly......ultimate wasnt bad at all to me. It reminded me of a superhero sitcom which was funny and kinda unique at the time. Most memorable episode for me was when Spidey and Wolverine switched bodies.

I have a big soft spot for Ultimate Spider-Man. Even when I first watched it, I found it enjoyable. It's not the greatest Spidey cartoon, but it has more than people give it credit for. I think the comedy and wall-breaking dialogue actually fits Spider-Man's character. The rest of the cast is pretty good for the most part. I know fans hate that MJ got symbiote powers, but I think it's a nice adaptation of the character. It at least has some proper build up. This may be a hot take, but this show has my favorite version of Scarlet Spider! Seriously, everyone is overlooking his development from being Ock's slave to a hero. Heck, I even wrote a short fan fiction about him! Another thing I want to mention is the Ultimate got pushed aside unfairly when the 2017 Spidey cartoon came on. I know fans hated that Ultimate replaced Spectacular Spider-Man, as well as all the other new cartoons that replace the old ones. But the thing is I feel like Ultimate was also a victim of that stunt considering the 2017 series came soon after and is arguably worse. The new show kinda took Spidey in a poor direction with Horizon High and all those stories like the Superior Spider-Man arc. Not to mention the animation was really bland. Anyways. I give Ultimate an overall 7.5 out of 10.....if that's accurate.

I'm in the middle of a rewatch for this show rn and I love it. I agree with everything you said. Im in the age range where I grew up with the 90s spidey show but completely missed the spectacular spider-man, so I really liked this take on him. It was fun watching him interact with other heroes his age regularly, and introduced me to a lot of them that I never knew before. Sorta gave me the same feeling as watching the young justice heroes. I like all the different team ups we got with different avengers, wolverine, and that one deadpool episode that was especially entertaining. Need more hulk & spidey interactions in my life lol

11:50 We actually did get Spider Gwen in the very last Spider Verse episode during the Wolf Spider arc. Peter & Miles go back to Miles home dimension & find Gwen there as the resident spider hero after Miles left. Gotta correct one thing. Donald Glover wasn't rumored to be cast as Miles. HE WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR HIM. See, there was a viral campaign for him to get an audition for the part of Peter in The Amazing Spider-Man (which the Community clip was a nod to.) That, along with the Obama presidency, led Brian Michael Bendis to wonder why Spider-Man couldn't be black, and thus he created Miles Morales, who debuted in 2011.

Just finished watching this whole series with my kids yesterday and the algorithm hits me with this? Wild coincidence but great break down. I agree the humor was a bit much early on, but watching it with little kids I really appreciated how wide the scope of this show was. I swear Ultimate Spider-Man is actually one of the most underrated not only Spider-Man series but in the animated section of Marvel series as whole and most people hated this series just because there is no dark thing happen to Peter (though on the later season.. there is a scene when Miles Morales show the main Peter the grave of Peter Parker of his universe who are killed by mutated Green Goblin thus Miles Morales decide to replace him as the new Spider-Man which is actually quite frightening for kids to watch.. not to forget about I remember being terrified by Doctor Octopus slowly went from normal person with a mechanical limb attached into his back into a horrifying cyborg and Green Goblin become a demon) which actually not and never necessary to make a good story contrary to what people believe nowaday (I am looking at you Zack Snyder).. it is also hated due to Spectacular Spider-Man legendary reputation (I am not saying Spectacular Spider-Man is bad.. it is one of the greatest animated series I ever watch but it sure have set a bar higher for the audiences that liked it so much.. hoping the next Spider-Man show to be just as good as it).. in my personal opinion.. it may not be as good as the previous Spider-Man series come before it such as 1994 series and Spectacular Spider-Man to some people but it is personally great or at least enjoyable to me (some of the comedy essence in this series actually did effective to make me laugh and the artstyle was quite accurate to the comic).. it have a charm of its own.. simplified.. I immensely enjoyed it on a cellular level when I watch it on Disney XD back then

I got my 7 year old brother into this show recently. I watched back when I was in middle school on occasion and I really enjoyed the balance with humor and seriousness. Personally, even looking at the show nowadays, I don’t understand the complaint to the humor. Like you pointed out, I’m also in introverted nerd and I of course fantasized of being Spider-Man and during those times I was alone with my thoughts, it was pretty much as whimsical as the show itself. Also with the whole thing about his quips being a defense for his insecurities, yeah that’s something I understand, hell even Spider-Man PS4 got that too. When Norman fucked over Otto, Pete made a bad joke and apologized saying he has a tendency to make jokes in tense situations. I think we can all take a note from that and try to lighten the mood from time to time because let’s face it, life sucks nowadays. But like show, it’s important to know when to take things seriously and be mature. I’ve never seen Spectacular SM so I don’t really have anything to say on that and yeah he’s gotten a couple upgrades in this show, it’s not as overcompensating as MCU Spidey and I never felt those upgrades he got in the show were all that distracting. He barely uses the bike after the first season, he still needs to refuel his weebing from time to time and the watch is just a phone that does break from time to time so they also took the opportunity to de-power him and cut his ties from backup, forcing him to overcome challenges on his own. Idk I just don’t think these popular complaints are all that big of a deal, or at least as big as people make them out to be. Anyways, sorry to type out a whole essay. I love both spectacular and ultimate spider man, each for their own reasons, like spectacular was a good plot focused show which still kept spider man true to his nature, while ultimate was more of an adventure ride with the quippy, 4th wall breaking, teenage spidey which did have a few minor plots and slow character development, but overall could be watched from any episode without getting very confused, and helped see more of spider man along with different MCU characters as it was more for entertainment than plot.

This is easily the most underrated cartoon about the character. I feel like people were mostly just sore about Spectacular getting cancelled in favor of this show, and most people never seemed to watch past the first season, which is where it really started getting better. Between Ben Riley’s arc, Agent Venom, The Goblin story, and the Spider-Verse, this show actually had a lot of genuinely great stories that nobody ever seems to pay attention to. It changed up the status quo and covered a lot of new and interesting ground compared to most Spidey shows, all with great animation and some honestly great writing.

I really enjoyed this show and they also had completely different takes on some of the well known characters. The art style and the character designs were incredible and it was fun seeing spidey interact with marvel heroes and to have shield be a big part of spideys career like in the ultimate comics.

Bro, finally someone is actually giving good vibes and rates to this show. I believe the hate is due to the expectation of the cliche storytelling where Peter is always a solo act with has romance trouble either with Gwen or Mary Jane. But this show is focussed more to a younger audience maintaining most of the characters' roots but telling their story in a different way. One good example of this fact is the symbiote Spider-Man origin and the symbiote main host to become the black suited Spider-Man. I found that arc quite interesting. With this show I was introduced to characters I've never know before, and I found it amazing. Thanks for your honest review!

I don't love or hate Ultimate Spider Man. Though it did inspire a comic book I've been working on that's been in long development ever since I was 12. Spiderverse is a high point for the series and I loved the christmas episode. Great video man and I can't wait to see your video on The Spectacular Spider Man

My first interaction with any superhero show was "Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends" which I believe came out in early 80s. This show represents my image of Spiderman 😀. There were other shows like Spiderman, Ultimate Spiderman, Spectacular.... I have enjoyed all of these shows. What I like about these shows is that all these shows had a little variety and difference in the character of Spiderman.

I was a Spectacular Spiderman kid, but honestly when this show came out, it caught my attention more than most other shows. To the point that I regularly rewatch USM, but haven't watched Spectacular Spiderman since I first saw it. And a lot of that is because of the supporting cast in the OG team! Everyone but Nova's characters were picked so they could breathe new life into a somewhat failing comic series, according to Jeph Loeb. Which got more people into their characters, even if they had to change a lot because of sensors or too long of an origin. And then there's Nova. Nova, or Sam, is one of the few original characters to this show, and he's named after Loeb's deceased son. Because he's new, they had to pick characters to base him on for interactions; mainly Johnny Storm, but a bit of Richard Rider (The previous Nova). Then Sam got his own comic series, and supposedly is able to act a lot more how his character was intended. The two characters aren't all that similar. It was a different show to what people were used to, and it was exciting for me, at least as a kid. And it still has the best Deadpool cameo I've seen in a long, long time

Uncle Ben being not present a lot in MCU's Spider-Man is actually comic accurate cuz Uncle Ben was present for like two panels in the first comics and died off screen in the comics

I grew up with both spectacular and ultimate spider-man. I appreciate spectacular’s more mature storytelling and action as well as it just establishing who Peter Parker really is. And I appreciate Ultimate’s lighter tone and comedy as a nice contrast to spectacular’s more serious tone. Ultimate also introduced me to the broader marvel universe and even introduced me to my second favourite marvel superhero (or anti hero) Deadpool AND introduced me to the concept of the Spider-verse and my favorite spider-man, Miles. Btw I was around 8 when I watched both so honestly it was a win win for me.

I grew up with this show on Netflix and it's such an interesting take on "Spider-Man". It does have flaws but hey what doesn't have flaws, it's how the flaws are dealt with that matters and as you said it may be them reacting to fan complaints or whatever, but they definitely got better at making the show over time.

I'm in the middle area of GenZ at 18 years old now but whenever Ultimate Spider-Man came on TV when I was like 10-12 years old it was always a blast, as a kid that show was really fun and the 4th wall breaking is pretty funny at times although kinda copied from Deadpool and honestly I think Drake Bell is the voice I recognize most as Spider-Man Also: Aunt May is a cougar in this iteration

I definitely felt like it had a few missed opportunities and at times it felt like it focused too much on spider-man and not enough on Peter Parker, but overall it's just something I can go back and have a good laugh with.

seriously though my favourite part of this show is that unlike other oeters when this peter is shown incle ben he doesn't get sad but it makes him a lot more string and determuned and it gives him the power ti defeat his foe easily

I'm a post-college grad currently in the second half of Season 3 and I'm still loving it, though his New Warriors team doesn't have me invested as his classic team. Watching it with my twin and 11-year-old sister and we still appreciate his quips. Though, I have nothing to compare it to except Tom Holland's version.

I haven't watched spectacular but i gotta say. Ultimate is good. Can't say its better then spectacular or not. But i gotta say the word "better" is subjective. In some things ultimate is better than spectacular and in some things spectacular is better than ultimate....

I love this series. I love almost all Spider-Man cartoons but this one is one of my favs. I love everything about it and I like how the show ended. And around this time I wasn't watching KZbin that much and never knew there was a lot of hate. Even my dad liked this show. I like the gadgets Spidey has and that he has a team. Kinda like Spider-man and his Amazing Friends series from the 80s where he had a team on there.

I’m a younger millennial-I never saw the older row series mentioned because I didn’t watch a ton of TV on the kid, and basically only watched shows my mom showed me. So, that probably influenced my thoughts about this show. I really liked it, especially the first two or three seasons. Drake Bell is MY Spider-man, followed by Andrew Garfield because Garfield reminded me so much of Bell’s portrayal. I’m glad to see this show getting a little love, because it was a staple of my high school (and a little of my middle school) experience.

I’m not gonna lie, this show definitely had its moments and good story lines but it just got a little corny to me. I know it was for kids but spectacular Spider-Man was as well and that is one of the best Spider-Man content ever imo. But nonetheless, this show wasn’t all that bad. Great video👍🏾

This show also did something unique by giving classique villains redemption arcs something I see very little in Spiderman media Witch makes the show unique to the others. perhaps with the return of the ultimate universe they'll bring back ultimate Spiderman TV series universe one can hope.
