I've always felt this show is over hated. Perhaps because Spectacular is so good and this is the one that followed up that. But this is definitely better than Marvel's Spiderman and that one Avengers show.

I loved how in the Deadpool episode, Deadpool (being a notorious 4th wall breaker), is able to interrupt peters 4th wall breaks. And, since those are entirely in Peter's head, he freaks out and asks how he an even DO that saying "How are you in my head?!" To which Wade responds "Maybe you're in MY head" in his serious voice. I don't know i just think it was really cool how they did that, and it not only made the 4th wall breaks more bearable, it also gave them a purpose besides dumb jokes and basic explanations. The episode even ends with them constantly switching between fighting in reality and fighting in Peter's head, or 4th wall space or whatever that place is, which leads to some ridiculous shenanigans whenever they're in there. Also side note, you said that the scarlet spider is kaines hero identity, and not Ben Riley's, when actually, the name originally was Bens, but was adopted by Kaine later on. Though the suit they used for him is Kaines suit, and not one of the Ben Riley ones.

Unpopular opinion of mine: I’ve always liked the show. This was one of the best parts of my childhood and always made me laugh. It shows a unique perspective on Spider Man and personally I feel like it’s great, although I have one complain which is that they completely left out Peter’s personal life after Season 1 of the show and made it more about his professional life. I feel that if they had shown an equal amount of both lives- it would have been a better show.

Sameee I love this show so much 🥰 It gave me my love for Spiderman, even if i loved him for different reasons to what the character is traditionally about. To me, his character is the kid with a big heart, who has weight of the world on his shoulders, and needs to give himself a break. I guess he's kinda like captain America, but with more fluid, relatable morals, and he doesnt feel too uppity trying to give a speech, he just tries to help.

There are a few things I think this show did really well: 1. The Spiderverse shenanigans, each world having a different art style and this was way before Into The Spiderverse. 2. Some of the voice actors I think are really good mainly Tom Kenny as both Doc Ock and Vulture 3. This was the first time Miles was put into the screen, and they did a pretty good job with him

I feel you guys but I haven’t even finished the video, and it’s very unlikely I’ll ever watch the show again but for it’s time and for what it was and contained. It was a good show all in all, had lots of side characters than never even got screen time before. And yea the VA for the main character might suck but that doesn’t take away from all the other people that worked on the show to make it great. I think you can separate the art from the artist in specific circumstances and this I feel would be one of the times. This might not be the best spider man show, but it’s definitely good. And it deserves at least some appreciation

Honestly I’ve really grown to like Ultimate Spider-Man, it didn’t start out great but it grew into a great show over time in my opinion, with the Noir, 2099, and Miles Spider-Verse episodes as well as the return to Noir and Miles’ universes, and the Guardians crossovers, and the episode where Danny goes back home All of those were great to me, and I like the characters, mainly Flash, Wade, Sam later on, and Danny, and the ending with Peter working without all his shield tech was also great Ultimate didn’t start off great, heck it started off pretty Bad, but it has its highlights, and it got much better over time, so while initially despising this show I’d go as far to call this one of the good ones, it’s different and I applaud it for both doing that and doing it well.

I think one of the best episodes this show has to offer is the episode " nightmare" where Peter falls on his head and relives points in his life that were significant and makes him question being a superhero, it felt like the most down to earth episode aside from the crazy shenanigans we were used to seeing in the show, and its Christmas themed so it makes it even better. You could literally make a near 30 minute video on that one episode and i would enjoy the hell out of that.

This show got me into Spider man, as well as the Avengers tv show, Agents of smash, Guardians of the galaxy tv show and Disney infinity 2.0, which took inspiration from those tv shows. These introduced me to these characters, this world, the teams, stories, etc, this is what got me into Marvel and Marvel is my favourite thing of all time now. Hell, characters like White tiger, Nova (Sam Alexander), Skaar, A-bomb, Red hulk and She hulk, I’ve been wanting to see in the MCU because of these shows (not Iron fist and Luke cage since they were already in the MCU by the time I got hooked), and wouldn’t you know it, She hulk joined the MCU back in 2019 when her show got announced, so hopefully the other five aren’t far of. Also this would be the show that started my “superhero childhood crush” period, starting with White tiger, so you can thank or blame this show for making me a simp when I was younger.

With better writing, less shield involvement, more adult themes, no Drake Bell, more Ultimate Spider-man accurate story lines, no 4th wall breaking, the daily bugle, with JJ as a deeper character and no de-aging of characters like Iron Fist and Luke Cage. @@PixelBraint it's the most annoying part of the show, it's horribly inconsistent, it's usually really stilted, but then they just turn up for no reason. It's the same with the plots and shit, you'll have a great episode, and then you'll have episodes where Spider-Man is the main focus, but he has nothing to do and is just hyper annoying, with few exceptions up until the last couple seasons, then he's not that bad, he's still cringe, but bearable.

Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed the plot twist that Spider-Gwen was an artificial spiderman. (I don't know why I loved it so much. Maybe because I thought that since artificial spiderman was a thing, anyone could be spiderman) I loved it so much that I even wrote a fanfic on it (which I've since burned) where Gwen, aunt May and another spiderman teamed up to fight crime while they waited for Miles to come back. I may be the odd one out but I loved it as a kid and I still love it.

After going back through memory lane for this show I solidly agree with the fact that Peter essentially drops out of Midtown High to join a superhero academy. That turning point was just Pete throwing away any chance of normalcy in his life. That was probably my biggest gripe because as much as Peter wants to continue being Spider-Man he still at the same time wants to try to live as close to normal as he could as Peter Parker.

If there’s one thing I believe the show does right, it’s Goblin. The whole build up just works so well with Norman being revealed as the one behind all of it. The episode when Norman turns into the Goblin is so good and the fight is really cool. It shows just how powerful the Goblin in the show was going to be, breaking out of Ock’s control instantly, knocking out Spider-Man’s team and making Spider-Man actual try harder than usual and still not being able to catch him. Not to mention, Goblin’s theme is so good just out of nowhere and the VA for him is amazing, just listen to his laugh. They messed up a lot with the show but I’m glad they did Goblin right

So, I rewatched both spider verse events that happened in the show and I loved it, now after seeing this review maybe i should just skip those filler episodes so i can just enjoy my time with the show again. I don’t mind the idea of Spider-Man teaming up with other heroes. But this was not the way the show could have done it. In my opinion, to make a good Spider-Man show, you shouldn’t just adapt a comic or game. You should first understand the character and make an entire new experience around it. Examples are Batman the animated series, the Arkham games, spectacular Spider-Man, and Spider-Man homecoming. These properties first understand the characters and go the extra mile to tell more obscure story’s that we haven’t seen before. As if you are writing a comic story. But for other media.

I watched the first season when it first started airing before stopping and coming back for the fourth season. It's a mess but its a mess that I have a deep love for because without it I doubt I would have fallen in love with Spidey at the time nor would I have been a fan of Deadpool or Scarlet Spider (even if they did mess up the name which I am so glad you pointed out). It is a chaotic mess but it's one I can laugh at and get nostalgic about, but they definitely made a lot of mistakes while making it.

It's been a long time since I've finished the 90s show, I started it when I was a little boy but I didn't finish it until years later when I was in high school and torrented the series and binged it. Another good Spider-Man cartoon is Spectacular Spider-Man. I really really like this one but it got cancelled after two seasons to make way for Ultimate Spider-Man. I'd recommend it anyway though even though it never got a proper ending. I like Andrew and Tom equally but I prefer Tobey but that's probably because I'm an old head who was a kid when I saw Spider-Man in theaters.

I actually still like this show. Because I grew up watching this. This show is the reason I grew up to love spiderman. It had some good seasons. (Aka seasons 1 an 2) and I like the green goblin design in this show. not as much as the classic one. But I still think it's cool. I mainly like it for the introduction of scarlet spider. But I think they could've made his story more interesting. And they should've put eddie in, but with BUILD UP. GOOD STORIES. As you can see they had great potential with their story telling. As proven with seasons 1 and 2. If older people hate this show, who cares. They are not the target audience, ultimate spider man is made for kids, since they are literally the audience. I have a few complaints about your complaints. First of all, you are very inconsistent with what you want the show to do. For example, I one moment you criticize the show for deviating from the comics (like with backstories), but later on you criticize the show for being too similar to the comics. You can see how those complaints seemingly contradict each other, making it unclear what you want the show to do. Should it copy the comics or not? This isnt even the only time you do this. During multiple parts of the video you criticize the show for being too similar to previous versions of spiderman, but then later on you criticize the show for changing spidergwen from her normal adaptation. You need to be more clear with what you want from the show, because with your contradicting criticisms it would seem that you will never like a spiderman show (except for the original). Second, you continuously complain about something in the form of a comparison, but then don't state why that thing was better or worse. You are effectively just making an argument with no evidence. Thats like saying that a toaster is better than an oven and just ending the conversation there.

Or at the very least it should be his name if he's not the only webslinger in his universe/timeline, so he's more distinct than the others. But if he's the only one, than he should be Spider-Man. From a show called Ultimate Spider-Man, I thought they were going to adapt the comics to an animated series. This Peter was a little too comedic at times. I didn’t mind the fourth wall breaks, but this Spider-Man almost had delusions of grandeur. As in one episode had Fury plant a bug in his room and he immediately thought Dr. Doom was spying on him. Not to mention it felt like this incarnation almost forgot what The Speech was all about, almost like he was Spider-Man just for the fun of it. He was also a little cavalier with his identity, sort of like immediately putting him on a team with kids who know his identity took the fun out of having a secret identity. Overall, I’d say Ultimate is a good 5/10, whereas Marvel’s is an 8, and I’d say Spectacular and 90s Spider-Man are tied for 9.

Designs were good, story was great (minus the liberties they took that made their arcs not direct adaptations from the comics), especially the third season.

Imo Marvels is a lot worse. They rush the characters and story. This is Peters’s first year of being spidey and he’s already dealing with the whole city being spider people? And the other spider heroes get no development. At least ultimate had episodes that fully dived into the side characters. I also think Spider-Man making mistakes isn’t him forgetting the lesson Uncle Ben taught it’s just showing he’s a teenager. I respect your opinion though

36:41 the spider did actually survive after biting peter in the comics. the spider didn't die until it bit another of peters classmates Cindy moon (silk) and she killed it. since this series doesn't have silk it makes since that the spider would have survived.

It’s kinda bad in the beginning, but for the later parts of the show it’s actually pretty good. Animation gets better than it already kinda was after a while, he starts moving away from the S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff, he actually visibly matured throughout the show, and Drake Bell became kind of a mainstay in my mind as who I hear when I read the comics (aside from the obvious Yuri Lowenthal and Josh Keaton). Edit: Oh yeah, let’s not forget the kickass theme song, can’t forget the kickass theme song.

Ultimate spider man is a great adaption because It introduces established heroes for the first time in the animated series However in the later seasons they tone down the jokes which is pretty impressive plus it ended in a High Note.

I LOVE this show, of course there’s imperfections but then again, it’s a great show. One of my favorite growing up. I think the people that pay attention to such little detail will hate this show, but then I think some of this stuff is petty. I mean, I personally like stuff that goes off course to the comics, something different. It may be repetitive, but they always make it interesting. I love the show. It introduces characters like White Tiger, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Nova. Yeah their background characters but I love em. Sheild is a really cool concept. Hes got a bunch of responsibilities working with sheild and everyone else. I like how hes given gadgets to try out. I also remember being TERRIFIED by doc oc. Venom was an actual character with an arch. Love the show.

1. While flawed, I'd say this is a good show. Plus, I've heard people mainly say good things about seasons 3-4, which I agree with. 2. This is the longest running Spiderman show, clocking in at 104 episodes. Until Avengers Assemble ended in 2019 with 127 episodes, this was the longest running Marvel cartoon 3. Probably one thing that did change for the show was behind the scenes. While some people stayed on the show, such as Joe Quesada, Eric Radomski, and Harrison Wilcox, the series changed showrunners over the course of its run. Man Of Action (the 4 man team known for creating Ben 10 and Generator Rex) and Paul Dini (of DCAU fame) worked on the first 2 seasons. Man Of Action left and Paul Dini had a reduced role in season 3 due to working on Hulk And The Agents Of Smash. As such, Henry Gilroy and Marty Isenberg became the new showrunners. In season 4, the writing duo of Kevin Burke & Chris Doc Wyatt (who worked on seasons 1-3) became the new showrunners.

This was the first Spider-Man show I grew up with and I loved it. I didn’t find any cons with it so I’m not sure what else to say, but I guess I’ll say the jokes can be… repetitive. Also the Contest of Champions special episodes in this show: I noticed even as a kid were much likely a reference to the app game Contest of Champions so they could encourage children to download it. Though this show was made in 2012 which is 2 or 3 years off when the app game was made, I could be wrong.

I remember finding this show and re-watching it over and over, and trying to find the episodes that weren’t on Netflix on KZbin instead. Even now I still haven’t seen the last few seasons. 😅 But recently I went back to it and re-watched the first bit. There were so many tiny things I completely forgot about that have absolutely shaped my mannerisms- honestly, it was a little freaky, because I remember the plot, and I remember how much I loved it, but all the little things? Completely forgot them. It was so weird tbh. And some of the humour in the first episode falls a little flat now, but is also clearly the seed my sense of humour grew from. Just me, or… ?

I personally think this show was a beginner’s Spider-Man show, where it follows enough of the original stories to get a general gist for other spidey plot threads, but also does enough of its own stuff to be interesting on it’s own merits, however it has the critical flaw of breaking so many rules of other spidey media that it would be murder for a traditional Spider fan, so I feel it’s good if you wanna start Spider Man, but you’ll only get value out of it as an existing fan if you’ve already watched it when starting out, nostalgia or otherwise. I personally love this show because it got me interested in Spider Man to begin with and was just a fun time to me, and even if I still love it, I do acknowledge it’s far from the best, but it will always hold a special place in my Spider fan heart 😊

honestly one of best spider-man shows next to spectacular that i’ve seen. pretty funny jokes, pays an overall great service to other marvel heroes (i.e., the guardians, avengers, some of the x-men, and the multiverse spider-men), and many arcs are pretty well written and wholesome i guess after what happened with drake bell, there’s a part of me saying that I shouldn’t be supporting the show anymore given how he voiced the character who gives the show its name. i’ve seen people saying, “separate the art from the artist”, but i’m still kind of conflicted (what makes it sting more is that this version of spider-man was in the Mission Marvel episode of Phineas and Ferb, and at the end, Peter promised Phineas “Next time, Phin, the juice box will be my treat.” Phineas must still be waiting 😂).

I wish people would do more research into the Drake Bell situation. He pleaded guilty to texting a minor, but stopped texting her after he found out her age. He admitted what he did was wrong, and accepted punishment. Any other accusations against him have no evidence to support them.

When a show makes me rewatch The 90 series spiderman and spectacular Spider-Man, you know you screwed up. Spectacular especially holds up even today, sure the '90s cartoon shows its age with the animation and the occasional bit of dialogue hiccups, but at least they were committed to telling good stories and adapting the actual comics. Not putting the ultimate Spider-Man title on the cartoon and then not even adhering to it. It's like a Star wars movie without having any actual Star war, Or a lightsaber duel.

Real talk: I fell in love with this show from episode one onwards because it was the first cartoon I had watched in YEARS--matter of fact, probably the first show period in YEARS--that not only made me laugh out loud, but so hard I cried. Yes, Spectacular is indeed spectacular, but after years of seeing moody Spider-Man in multiple iterations, I was glad to see one that was allowed to goof off. Ultimate remains the ultimate show in my eyes, with Spectacular being on equal footing (and yes, Spectacular totally deserved a third season).
