I served with Kelly E. Whitaker (@4:16 in the video) in the 101st Airborne (3/187th). We became best friends before he left for Vietnam. I found out about his death just days before I left for Vietnam in December 1965. SFC Bryant Brayboy (at 1:55 in the video) was my platoon sergeant in the 101st and I only found out that he died 8 November 1965 many, many years later. Rest in Peace and God Bless You both!!

This is the material that makes true Patriots. Traitors and selective service skippers are made of the worst garbage. Remember this you fellow Vietnam Veterans that forgot the meaning of service and sacrifice of the ones that did not return. We owe them.

I served with Lawrence Joel in HHC 1/503 in Bien Hoa, Camp Ray in 1965. While in camp, he was our medic and was a very good one and was very easy to talk to and of course he was much older than I at the time. I was not involved in the fight/battle in which he earned the MOA. After my tour with him in 1965 I reassigned to the 101st at Fort Campbell, KY and when they awarded him the MOA while he was assigned to the 82nd ABN my unit flew us to to Ft Bragg for his official military ceremony. After that, I volunteered to return to VN and received orders to the 101st VN but I managed to get the reassignment changed to the 173rd after I arrived in country. 00:24

Gordon have ever thought about doing a video about about the Mayaguez Incident Recovery Operation, May 1975. We lost over 20 Marines trying to rescue the crew of the Mayaguez, which they thought were on Koh Tang Island, Cambodia. I was on Okinawa when this Operation happened. It was a sad time on Okinawa. Semper Fidelis from an old Marine Sergeant and greetings from Charleston West Virginia

Hello Sergeant. This is the first I have heard of this operation. My wife and I run a veteran nonprofit here in Cheyenne Wyoming. We are very well known all over the Country. Miss Sallee started it 9 yeas ago and put a 47 foot Vietnam Wall in the VA Hospital here. We also place “POW-MIA Chairs of Honor” all over. We will research this most important operation and I will do a video for it. Any suggestions on the music? If you are on Facebook we have a page that Honors Vietnam Veterans everyday. And you can follow all the stuff we do on my page. Gordon Parks

@Gordon Parks thank you Gordon for looking into the Mayaguez Incident Recovery Operation. Some call it the Mayaguez Incident, how can you call it an Incident when young men are killed. Like I said most people have not heard of this Operation in May 1975. There was a TV episode about it, but not on the major TV networks. I can't remember what network it was on. If you do video about it please don't slam the Marines they did there best with what Intel they had. Three Marines were never found, Joe Hargrove from Mt Oliver NC, Gary Hall from Covington KY, and our own West Virginian Danny Marshall from Waverly West Virginia. The Battle was off the coast of Cambodia on Koh Tang Island. It was a helicopter Recovery Operation but several were shot out of the sky, maybe they should have used Amtrac. Well thank you again. There's several books about this Operation. Thank you and Semper Fi

@Gordon Parks as far as music this music was fine. If you do a video on the Mayaguez Recovery Operation maybe use some soft rock music from 1975, when this Recovery Operation happened.

@@usmc-veteran73-77 I may be ARMY, but I would never slam no brother or sister no matter what branch they served. I am going to do a video on this and the 3 Brothers lost. I will reach out when it's done. I'll have it done within 2 weeks.

@Gordon Parks thank you Gordon. As far as I know the 3 left were never found. When part of the 2nd Bn 9th Marine Regiment were sent in, they were given bad INTEL from the beginning. If you have any questions please ask. I've read two books about the Operation. Thanks.
