Hes all hippy loving now hehe, not as bad as he used to be, like a tree huggin hippy. But as for movies? How would one make one now a days. You would need that crude "boomer" humor in the old conservative racist era. When it was ok to make fun of these things. Now Both cultures would cancel out each other. Most that crude humor was thanks to the boomer era when it was "unchecked". I wouldn't say it was a good era, prety bad in general for non white people, was it is still a current issue in 2020.

To be openly homophobic? This wasn't put on tv yesterday this was put on in the early 90s. At a time where it wasn't uncommon for gay people to be beat in the street for being gay, only a few years earlier the government ignored HIV because it was a gay man's disease, the don't ask don't tell policy was that you can serve in the military but if someone tells us you are gay we will throw you out no matter how long you have been serving and no matter what you have done for your country. In 1996 years after this congress passed an act DENYING federal recognition to any legal union between gay people. I don't see the humor as this was just pushing false stereotypes that were used to mock and belittle gay people. The show had a habit of doing that.

Not only that but these stereotypes are of the time where this behavior was counter culture and not annoying. Homeboy above said it best. You would be more creative critiquing women in combat roles or how people who are trans sign up vs. Soldiers who are trans post service. This sketch was just an exageration of of the fears they had about fays in combat when in reality they been under their nose the whole time. Super sad newer takes of diversity and lgbt culture in the military is too taboo for the glass bone paper skin hollywood fellatiators.

Did Marlon Wayans come in later in the show? I was too young to really have noticed. But now that I think of it this might be the first time I recall him being on this show. It now seems insane that he wasn’t on any other episodes I saw. So I’m assuming he came on later towards the end & that the show ended shorty after he joined the cast. Maybe that’s when the Wayans brothers got their own TV show or when “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking your Juice in the Hood” came out. 🤷🏼♀️idk. But I just now remembered that my dad used to forbid us girls to watch In Living Color. My big sisters had to sneak it by whipping out the tiny tv they had put aside when it came on at night & sometimes I got to watch it too.

Yep! This was the big break for a lot of them. This show was created by Keenen Ivory Wayans- Marlon's eldest brother, and also featured Damon, Kim, and Shawn Wayans, plus their brother Dwayne appeared in numerous non speaking cameo type roles. Besides that, the dance troupe on here, the Fly Girls, launched the career of Dancing With the Stars' Carrie Ann Inaba, was choreographed by Rosie Perez, and also in seasons 3 and 4 featured a then unknown Jennifer Lopez! The Wayans family are masters at finding talent!

@iIO_OIi4 жыл бұрын
@@EvenStevenSays, I am not saying no one would retaliate or that there would be no complaints, or no discussion about the repercussions, just that a "societal heart attack" is an over exaggeration, a few people will have their complaints and but I wouldn't really call that anything new or unusual, nor is reacting to complaints of some of your audience members (ie pulling an episode/skit) a new concept either, it's not like media was invented yesterday, it's been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, and social repercussions almost certainly predate humanity, and certainly have been around as long as civilization at the very least- granted that's a separate point than rather if society would get a heart attack over this or not, but just saying that there's nothing new here, just a different skin. I personally wouldn't be more than mildly annoyed at most, and probably just comment (unoffended) about potential repercussions and then forget about it at most, to some people it may look like I freaked out (I don't know how) but it really wouldn't be much of a stressor for me, some extremely sensitive people may think I'm overreacting in that case though, but they'll basically think anyone that doesn't agree with them is extreme in some way or another or complaining too much ect, these people are often quick to anger on minor passing critiques on things they like (I make no claim of being a saint or perfect in this regad, really no one is, we are just human after all). I say all this as a gay asexual/some-who-could-care-less-about-doing-the-do-in-my-lifetime, my genderfluid gay brother is even less quick to offend, at least with a skit like this (albeit he's relatively more conservative than me despite fluctuating between identifying as male & female... 😐). My advice, spend a little less time on the internet and a little more time talking to people in person (ironic advice coming from me...) you get to know these different sorts of people and even if they still seem crazy, you'll probably see that like anyone else they have a variety of temperaments and such, there's loud people and there's everyone else in any group, and never an absolute consensus, although the loud ones certainly make it feel like there is... Anyways this is going on too long now, I feel like I'm loosing my point, have a nice day.

@@mikehayes1173 Pining for those days is like saying it was cool in the 50's when no one apologized for being openly or ignorantly racist. Sometimes (not always) an apology is merited or, wait for it, a sign of growth and maturity. The gang at IASIP (easily one of the most offensive shows out there) never see any material as "going too far", for example. Except that people started to take their satire as legit opinion and they felt the need to make it VERY clear in their work what was what. Even then one of the creators felt remorse for an episode where the mentally disabled were used as a joke. He wasn't badgered into it, he did it freely and of his own will. Also, we forget that shows like In Living Color and Married WIth Children (among others) engendered tons of controversy in the day. Episodes were pulled, censored, apologized for, taken to court, etc. There is nothing new going on here, just more ways to find out that it's going on.
