I grew up with In Living Color, this is classic stuff! At the time it was kinda revolutionary to have a Black comedy skit show on prime time TV. It introduced the Wayans family to a whole new audience. Tommy Davidson and David Alan Grier have become stars in their own right. Jim Carrey did get his big break here, but can you believe he started out as the "token white guy"? He created some memorable characters, though, like Fire Marshall Bill and Venus de Milo. And his parody of Vanilla Ice was hilaaaarious, I still remember watching when that came on. Maybe you could react to that clip next!
@TranzparentMethods2 жыл бұрын
He wasn't the only white person on the show, you had Kelly Coffield from the first 4 seasons, and later on Alexandra Wentworth, in season 4, both amazing in their own right. Most of the cast jumped ship after the 4th season, and the god-awful 5th season happened.
@etc70702 жыл бұрын
@@TranzparentMethods yes, I remember them, which is why I put "token white guy" in quotes referring to Jim Carrey in particular, not that he was the only white cast member. I also remember when the show started falling apart after Keenan Ivory Wayans left.
@TranzparentMethods2 жыл бұрын
@@etc7070 Yup, that was the death knell. By season 5, Keenan wasn't even involved with it, pretty much. When he left, the rest of the Wayans family left as well. None of the Wayans family were in ANY episodes on season 5.
@danlabok71172 жыл бұрын
In Living Color was a comedy staple growing up and not my friends nor myself thought of it as a "black show" but rather a family of comedic geniuses who split our side's and gave us memorable lines that I still parrot to this day. I hope you do more skits!

Its comedy from a time in America everyone respected & promoted "FREE SPEECH". Its a time were if you didn't like what people said or a certain TV show you just wouldn't watch it but what you'd never thought of doing is trying to BAN these shows just because you chose to watch them & get offended. I would also bet that 90% of the American population back in the 1990's would have never guessed that Free Speech wouldn't be important to American Citizens in 2022. People back then thought Freedom Of Expression is what America was all about & if you don't like what someone says you can just ignore it because no one forces you to listen & respond. Being offended is a choice. Also In Living Color was never a "Black Thing", sure it had a lot of black comedian's but it had all types of comedian's & the show beaver pushed race agendas like they do today. The irony is it was extremely successful in America because they didn't make it about virtue signaling. Sure it played on racial stereotypes of all races just like every comedian has but no one got offended that I know of & if anyone did get offended they were blown off & ignored because people knew being offended was a choice. It used to be a question of "Maturity" vs being "Childish". A mature person has control over there emotions & focus more on peoples actions than words.
