And the first amendment is the most powerful tool in protecting against movement towards tyranny, which is why in every case you see, the first step was never taking the guns-the first step is to eliminate dissent (I’m not talking about idiots shouting down a speaker on their university campus or someone on Twitter trying to cancel someone. I’m talking literally…think the “night of the long knives” or the “great terror” of Stalin). Next is to take control over the media and allow one and only one narrative to be heard, like one might see in North Korea today. Only after they consolidate their power like this do they try to come for the guns…be wary of the early warning signs; all politicians lie, mislead and misrepresent to some degree, but the one recent trend that scares the shit out of me is the way people throw around “fake news” at any disagreement with their beliefs…and that people accept that as a valid rebuttal. Skepticism is perfectly healthy, but I’m not seeing a lot of it as I look around-I see a lot of contrarianism masquerading as skepticism, and that too worries me.

I don't like the idea of guns, but recognize that responsible gun owners have rights under our 2nd amendment, and criminals ought not be the only ones armed. Police are walking off the force in blue cities, & understaffed departments will lead to further escalation of crime. The Supreme Court just struck down a ruling in N.Y. that infringed on gun owners' rights; the correct decision, I believe. It's imperative to seek understanding of the underlying agenda our government has in restricting individual freedoms; it may cause you some consternation as you realize the extent to which we've all been manipulated. Short of another revolution, our voices are heard at the ballot box; learn, so that you choose wisely.

The media and politicians make it sound like the only people who own rifles or handguns are criminals and mass shooters, when in reality, almost all (over 99%) of gun owners follow all the laws and never get in trouble. In fact, according to the FBI, more people die because of "hands, fists, and feet" than rifles every year, and about 70% of gun deaths are suicides, so if they want to help reduce gun deaths, the biggest category would be mental health for suicidal people. It's also worth noting that the places where there are the MOST gun deaths now are the places with the MOST STRICT gun laws already: places like Chicago and Detroit and Washington DC and places like that. It's just like bullies in school. Does the bully go and try and beat up the big guy on the wrestling team? Hell no. Does he go and try and beat up a little guy? Absolutely. Criminals do the same thing - they look for easy targets that aren't going to fight back and if they know there aren't any guns in the neighborhood then they don't have any fear to rob them. We actually have some information to back this up. In Switzerland, all men right out of high school do a few months of boot camp and weapons training, and everyone is given a gun to keep at home in case there is ever a war and they need everyone to defend the country, everyone has a gun at home. Well - they have 80% less burglaries because criminals know everyone has a gun, so few people try and break into people's homes. Keep up the knowledge journey! Cheers

Your best defense is to have a weapon like an AR or AK style rifle capable of returning fire with more lethal force . A combat ready shotgun is a good option for self defense. @@USFirst1776 you're kidding right? In a country of over a hundred million people there were 9 deaths in 2018 from firearms. In 2017 there was a firearm homicide. Why? Because there are so few guns and even ammo is regulated. When you break down those miniscule numbers you'd also see a massive percentage are related to organized crime because an average citizen isn't going to be able to find a gun. The system works. Like this must recent event which if you read past the headlines wasn't a firearm but a "homemade gun". Now we don't have details but from what you can see it looks like two pipes taped together with some sort of electronic charge. So no rifling, no reloading, more like a mini pipe bomb that launched two projectiles. Still tragic but there's a reason the shooter was seen so close, if he was further away without rifling he wouldn't have been able to aim effectively. It's also why a deranged lunatic managed to kill a person in Japan while a deranged lunatic in Highland Park could successfully kill seven people and injure dozens. There was no way to fire more projectiles and he had to be close enough to be seen. Not sure about you but I'd prefer my deranged lunatics not to be able to reload or aim. As you can see from Japan that makes them incredibly easy to stop and arrest. But yeah if you ignore the staggering low numbers of firearms related deaths and homicides in general and pretend two pipes taped to a piece of wood shows ease of access to firearms, really every single detail past the headline, it totally proves your point.

Our government only has power because we consent and allow them to govern. The founders gave us 2A to help the people remain the sovereign of this country not the politicians. If the politicians take our guns they no longer need consent to make laws and control the citizens. The citizens we no longer be the sovereign but subjects of the elite politicians if we lose our 2A right. It was the reason for the “shall not be infringed” portion in 2A.

My grandparents and parents fled from soviet communism in the 70's. Many wanted to escape, but couldnt. Many that wanted to escape were killed trying to leave. My grandparents and parents always said they were blessed and lucky enough to escape to real freedom. And now they look at whats happening in western nations and are terrified and saddened.
