As a handicapped adult since I was 15(47 now) I always found this hysterical. I never understood why people got so butt hurt. Why shouldn’t we have jokes about us to? We’re just as human and tbh we have some pretty funny things that we go through lol

When I was a child I was diagnosed with ADD in the 80s. I was often called a “spaz” or “retarded”. My cousin had muscular dystrophy and brain damage from a complication during childbirth. My other cousin…his brother has no problem using the word “retarded”. Disabled people deserve comedy as much as anyone else. The nuances of comedy should be respected. Ones offensive statement is another’s funniest statement. Let’s stop hating each others differences and celebrate our differences…

Love this. I have Cerebral Palsy, & this is one of the few times I ever saw us represented without pity. As part of the larger community. Political correctness has made things worse. I have used a wheelchair, & crutches all my life. They represent freedom, and independence. Pity is what is crippling. Society's perception of my reality. Is by far the biggest barrier I face. Having a disability is not a bad thing, & it doesn't make someone exceptional. We are all just people. Lastly. a disability doesn't change your true nature. You could just be an asshole.

Netflix has Daredevil AND Jessica Jones. BOTH are EXTREMELY graphic, though. Daredevil has fricking stabbings and blood EVERYWHERE, one guy, a crime boss, loses his temper so bad that he beats a guy into a dazed, semiconscious stupor, then, still not satisfied, proceeds to SLAM a door closed on his head over and over and over until his head caves in and crumples, spraying insides everywhere as if it were a watermelon. Jessica Jones? A LOT worse. It will get in your head and mess with it. Dont let kids watch, if you have a soul. It deals with a lot of things kids have no business knowing about. Concepts that can (and probably SHOULD) get a person arrested or even beaten or shot, for introducing children to.

I think what we really appreciated about the '90's is that we didn't infantilizate each other. We wanted to be talked to like normal grownups, and really appreciated stuff that could be both funny and make you think without it being preachy or being talked down to. Look at all the comments from people with disabilities on all these Handi-Man videos (not just this one) and to a single person each one really appreciated being treated like a grownup instead of smothering people with pity and sad emojis on social media. It's really condescending. We are grownups, we can handle it. Sadly mass culture thinks we all are pearl-clutching, fragile, delicate little gossamer-lined buttercups who will hit the feinting couch if you don't overwhelmingly bubble-wrap and scaffold everything with whatever nonsense just to get a point across. Forget nuance and subtlety, lol that's out of the picture now. Again, it's insanely condescending. I was a feral latch-key only child of a single working parent. We kind of liked figuring out stuff for ourselves. We often had to self-parent. Now we former kids who had to learn "adulting" early are now being infantilizated. It's truly amazing. Thank God I wasn't smothered by helicopter parents; I'd be an emotional basket case by now.
