I had suicidal thoughts when I was 15 due to heavy spiritual warfare. The Holy Spirit told my momma and I prayed to God, fast, read the Bible, and resisted those thoughts. Listen, I ain’t judging, but the temptation was so strong that I believe I was gonna go to hell. The reason why I believe this is because Jesus was tempted to throw himself down by Satan. Suicide is a true risk of going to hell, in my opinion. Your life is more important until you get ready to face eternal life with Jesus. Never kill yourself. Get help and never let someone help you kill yourself.

Yes, it is important to understand that death is a transition to eternity and a meeting with our Creator. It is difficult not to fear death, but it becomes easier to face it with a clear conscience. We must prepare for death throughout our lives by engaging in repentance, cultivating humility within ourselves, and praying to God. This preparation helps us approach our final moments with peace and hope, knowing that we have lived a life aligned with His will. By nurturing our spiritual lives and fostering a deep relationship with God, we can embrace the inevitability of death as a step towards eternal life with Him.

That's an interesting distinction between those that commit suicide knowingly and those who are not in their right mind. I'd never thought of it like that before, but it makes sense. One time I suffered from a condition called peritonitis due to a botched surgery and the pain from that condition was so intense that you literally can think of nothing else but getting out of pain. I've had many other painful conditions such as abscesses and pancreatitis, but in my experience nothing comes close to that. Luckily, the ambulance arrived relatively quickly and gave me something that took the pain down a couple of notches, but that type of pain is not easy to bear and I could imagine someone making a rash decision just to end the pain in certain circumstances.

I think Jesus would approve this for people in unbearable pain without help. I have had pain like that before, could not sleep or even often couldnt sit down. its like torture. They made me think at first it was chronic but it wasnt! But while I thought it was chornic I knew I in no way could live like that. The dread I felt... the sorrow. I wanted to live but I knew in no way could I live with such pain. So I understand people in that amount of chronic pain to choose that option. So I pray all who dont understand may get empathy for people going through horrific pain day in day out. In those cases their family wants their relief, they prefer that they would actually be dead vs seeing them in suffering every day without relief. Reminds me of this man also with horrific cluster headaches. Broke his heart he had to leave his family behind. He wanted to live! But the pain made it unbearable and his family understood. As he couldnt do anything for them either but to have them watch him in such pain every day.Death in that case, was a relief to him and them. There is a limit to the benefit pain can bring btw! Horiffic chronic pain has zero benefit if not resolved. When resolved it could serve as a help to help others manage and overcome. But without resolve it unables you to do anything but suffer. You cant be there for people, you cant be there for your family, you cant eat, you cant sleep.. its hell pretty much. For me the only thing it brought was great empathy for people in pain like that thats actually chronic. Thankfully for me it wasnt, because I would not have been able to live with that. Anyone who says otherwise never experienced pain on that level. BTW my pain was actually from an infected tooth nerve and it felt like TMJ or something in my jaw. It send stabbing down my face especially sitting or laying. So you could actually not sleep or even sit. Its like a torture for real. I had to stand up and walk often from pain and couldnt even find rest and I was exhausted. If this was chronic TMJ pain like this one jaw surgeon said, I would have opted to remove my jaw! This is how horrible the pain was and how I could not in any way survive with that. I was willing to actually loose half my face to have this pain stop.

@RapunzelASMR That's great, but what you think is not what matters here. What the BIble and church fathers taught is what matters. You or I are not the only people to have suffered pain in our lives. Life is hard, death is hard. Jesus knows this. He did not spare himself. For the Christian, the pain in death, the process of separation of soul from body, is another way we identify with Christ in His suffering. Expediting the days the Lord has for you is taking away an opportunity to identify with Christ and you also never know the use the Lord still has for you until your dying minute. We will regret this very much. Before you know it, they will be offering this "end of life care" to the elderly and menttill who still might have many days or years ahead od them. Heck, it might even be forced upon them. This is not good for himanity at all, especially men who have a higher suicide rate.

He must have a good moral character, and he must not have taken orders in the Jesuit order. He must also be orthodox in belief. It is true that there have been bad popes in history before, but none of them used their power to lead millions of souls to perdition through public and notorious heresy. Anti-popes exist and I believe that Jorge Bergoglio is one of those. I believe in the papacy, but I don't believe that the man inhabiting the throne of St. Peter even meets the criteria for being elected pope in the first place. Therefore, there is a necessary interregnum. Previous generations also saw periods of long interregnums. This is just one of them.

@organgrinder506Ай бұрын
It's true that many suicides are connected with mental illness. Depression and other mental illnesses are no joke, and we can only beg God to have mercy on anyone who's taken their own life while battling mental illness. However, have you read Anna Karenina (Tolstoy) or The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis? Both authors present characters who choose to end their own lives after a series of choices they make that leave them hating life itself. Anna Karenina and the unnamed young man from The Great Divorce are both idealists who turn their backs on conventional morality in favor of their own narcissistic desires. At first these desires seem noble, but they spiral out into something truly sick. One could even argue that they put themselves in hell before they went through with un-aliving themselves. I highly recommend both books--Anna Karenina is notoriously long, but The Great Divorce is a nice, quick read.

The odd thing about your response is a lack of answer to the fatigued. I’m not sure of the full reason as to why that woman did what she did for. But I can tell you that from the antinatalist circles I’ve come across that people are tired. They are tired of toiling and the cycle nature of reproduction that only leads to more toil.( I am not an antinatalist by the way) While you can argue from orthodoxy, many people don’t see such justifications to keep going as a means of hope. Nor do I blame them. God may grant individuals the grace to suffer, but what can you truly justify the existence if that person is weary of existing. Life is to toil, Ecclesiastes states this. And how can you force others to toil, when their spirit is weary?

We must all embrace the end, when we will be reunited with our Lord and Savior. But we are evil and degenerate if we seek out merciful and peaceful endings for ourselves. Right. We all need to have children, because God loves children. But then those children become adults, whom God sends to Hell if they don't believe. Right. We know from the Revelation of St. John that this world's fate is already decided....this world will pass away to give us a new Heaven and a new Earth. But we all need to keep breeding for the sake of "The Christian West," even though we know it will fall. And those our children have no right to end their own lives, no matter how bad it gets, even though they did not choose those lives. Right. I left Protestantism because it was a bunch of insane, self-justifying degeneracy. Orthodoxy is the same...just with more saints to pray to. Cheers!

@campomamboАй бұрын
My friend, the material is not destroyed and done away with. This world will be renewed and redeemed as much as the spiritual realms. We are not merely souls trapped inside a suit of flesh. Christ came to this world to redeem it as well as us. He took on a body because our bodies also need saving. St. Paul says, “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” (Romans 8:19-23)

God can allow or even give immense suffering but you can’t die in dignity and peacefully? Nah
@emil3709Ай бұрын
Yes, but not all immense suffering is permanent and some people may do things rashly under immense suffering that they wouldn't do otherwise. I speak from experience because once I had peritonitis and the pain is truly unbearable and I was sweating so much from just trying to cope with the pain that the EMT could barely get an IV into my arm. Probably, if that had been allowed to go on for much longer without some sort of medication to take the pain down a notch, I could have done something that I would have regretted. Now, I am very thankful to God that I endured the pain which seemed like an eternity at the time and I have gone on to other things. I have seen cases of people in Canada applying for medically assisted suicide because they are in poverty or whatever, and in my book that's taking the easy way out and the selfish way out without giving a flip about who you may hurt by taking such action. The priest is right.

Your teaching on praying for the dead is not Biblical. Contrarily, Hebrews 9:27 even suggests that judgement happens immediately after death. Are you placing Christian tradition over the Bible? I've been on the fence about Orthodoxy for a while but after learning about how Orthodox Christians pray to the saints as well as Mary, and now learning that you also pray for the dead, I'm turned away from following this tradition. You also speak as if praying for the dead is such an obvious thing to do and protestants are fools for not adapting these corrupt traditions. This appears to be a blind spot for you, Mr. Trenham.
@Phillip_GravesАй бұрын

All that work and devotion to Luther, Calvin, Sola Scriptura! Only to find out I was wrong. How embarrassing. I made such a spectacle of myself all those years! Not having a clear view or knowledge of church history and early church fathers is your problem. Do that research before you try to debate. Believe me, it'll save you lots of repentance and embarrassment later.
@mitch0990Ай бұрын

Well i went down this rabbit hole of catholic adjacent fun for too long. I feel really dad sfter this video. To think you would deny a family funreal rights in the church is horrifying. It's not about the dead it's about the living. The church has changed enough things by now that this too can be abandoned. I don't think you going to ease a families suffering is equivelant to you standing over the corpse pointing at it screaming this is what God wants. I think there's a middle ground that could be found and i know a lot of the changes have to be verified agaibst a wide body of texts but genuinely make an excuse because the resson why families are so disrupted by a sucide at least in this one aspect is that they have someone they trust saying "your child hates you" "They are going to burn in hell" "Have fun explaining to your family the reason for your loved ones death since I won't be there tehee." Just really think about the harm you're facilitating. Being there to see someone's body into the ground is not the same as you handing out pistols at a mental health hospital.

'Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
