We lost a lot of good people last year. To those who appeared on screen - all we can really say is this. We were blessed to witness your talent and we are so grateful that you shared it with us. To those who appeared off screen, you are equally important because without your skills and talent, we would have never seen those who appeared on screen. Bless you all and thank you. May you rest in peace.

It was really nice to see Jimmy Kimmel give such a heartfelt speech about Bob Newhart at the 76th Emmy Awards this year. A good person should be paying tribute to a comedian as skilled and knowledgeable as Newhart was.

@@Nothing-db1zy The In-Memoriam section of this year's Oscars did not focus on those we lost but those who were performing during the segment - in my opinion, it felt like those we lost were less important than those who were still with us performing and it felt disrespectful.

Thank you, Jelly Roll for this wonderful and touching tribute to these legends, like Harry Belafonte (1927-2023) or Matthew Perry (1969-2023; "Chandler Bing" from the ensemble 90's hit NBC sitcom tv series, "Friends (1994-2004)")

That was so respectful and focused on all of ther dearly departed with EACH picture being clearly visable to the tv audience while jelly roll sang only cutting to him when NO remeberance photos were up...something i am sad to say in the last few years the oscars dont do its foucused on the performer with the camera shots and you miss a lot of the remeberance pictures! Oscars could learn a lot from the Emmy remeberance ceremony after all it IS supposed to be a focus on who we have lost over the past year and NOT about the performer singing in that segment! ...JUST my opinion is all as i stay up to watch the Oscars as im in the UK ..sadly the Emmys dont get broadcast here! 😉❤ PLUS i know they cant featue everyone who passed due to time constriants be it the Emmys or oscars as they only have the leangh of the song to do so but the emmys do it so much better than the Oscars in my opinion ...in fact tbh the in memeroium section should start with the singer ...then when the pictures come up it should stay focused on the pictures with the artist singing in the backgroung instead of cutting to them on stage that way they could get more in memoriam pics in on the screen etc ..again just my opinion! ..i wayched this and had forgot OR didnt know that some had passed as its been a year AND NOT EVERY death of a performer / actor gets reported over the pond in the UK even if we knew them from tv and film!

Before watching, I was hopeful the Academy would feature Shannen Doherty; it was nice to see her in this segment. Matthew Perry had already been honored at the prior ceremony, but I was certainly expecting to see Shelley Duvall. There's always been ommissions, but Duvall's absence feels like a giant oversight.

As usual they sadly left out a few people most notably Shelley Duvall, but regardless this was a well done memorial segment and I might be wrong about this but I believe it's been ten years since the last time the Emmy's did a special tribute at the end of the segment, not even Betty White or Sidney Poitier had that honour although the Oscars did a special moment for them.
