Love the work you do, Team Proffitt! I'm narrowing my list of restoration companies for my 1981 FJ40 and you and your team are definitely in the running. Thank you for taking the time to put out your great, fun videos of your capabilities. Hope to speak with you soon.

I like the closing comment, take everything apart and refinish, and reassemble. I just finnished a body off on my 49 Willys wagon 4X, dad bought in 51, AMC 401 FI, 700R4, TMTL, over 2000 hours my labor and 6 years. My engine build is "over the top" inside and out, attention to detail that only a Retired Harley Master Tech can give. At 65 it's my last hurrah , alot of work, but well worth it, it's a car show where ever we go and so loved by the general public. My willys ranch rig same family 68 years, kaiser willys site, jeep blogs pg 11 or so. Toyed with the idea of doing a 2.8 into the early wagon, someone do it so I can watch😉

Sweet looking Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. I'd buy one if I could get it with a turbo diesel engine. :)

I completely understand your question but you have to drive one, it makes sense after that.

Fantastic! Have two projects that I would like to, do. #1 Jeep J10 1974 with original 4.2 inline 6 cylinders AMC engine, and #2 Toyota 4Runner 1990 with 2.8 original Toyota diesel engine. Just wondering if the R2.8 will be a good fit for both of these jewels? Thanks

What gearbox is in that bj60?? I want one of these motors is an Australian released hj61...have some issues finding a kit to marry it up to a h55f manual transmission.
@procruiser4 жыл бұрын
It's an H55F. Do you have a 12HT with an auto? Some 12HTs had the H55F so all you need is the factory bell housing.
@pauladams11564 жыл бұрын
Proffitt's Resurrection Land Cruisers yeah 12ht & lpg (propane) & h55f...but want something a bit less thirsty. I had a look at the advance mob, but no option for the h55f🤷🏻♂️
@pauladams11564 жыл бұрын
Proffitt's Resurrection Land Cruisers sorry, do you mean I only need a h55f bellhousing? Or a Cummins bellhousing? Can I use the standard Toyota h55f clutch? Or does that need to be a Cummins item too?

2.8 is too small for the land cruiser. Best match I believe is Cummins 3.8 ISF engine. Got enough displacement, power and tourque. Also can be purchased in crate form, very similar looking to 2.8

Great work but I really do prefer the 4bt, easier to find parts for and made domestically in the US. The R2.8 castings come from china and they are not built like a b-series, which is the pinnacle of heavy duty diesel excellence. If going for a light duty engine like the r2.8 plenty of other options like the VW ALH TDI, 606.962 Mercedes Engines which are relatively high revving for a turbo diesel and many others.
@Lcr344 жыл бұрын
Mercedes 606,605 are idi engines, 1.9 tdi are relatively small and have low compression braking. Another viable diesel swap will be m57 from BMW X5s. My friend oversees a fleet of trucks using 2.8 isf. The first batch were atrocious, revised versions seems ok.

@@Lcr34 ill stick with the b series can find almost ever part necessary at local parts stores. 99% interchange with the 1st gen ram

All 99% of these of these car builds don't include a parts list in the description such a small detail but very annoying.
