The Real Deal..When the Brothers brought Marshall Tucker to New York, we were there at Madison Square Garden.. As soon as Toy took off on his First Solo, we all looked at each other, and instantly knew there was a new Gunslinger in town, that could run with anyone.. A true American Original..RIP Brother Toy.. we are still listening

Wirhout a doubt the most beautiful song ever!!! What a talent Toy Caldwell was. Just listen to his voice and even better his guitar solo. Thank God I was alive to hear this incredible man play this song!!!

Thank You Toy. You and your band will always be the defining of my life in the 70's . May you walk with God and his son. Even now you bring the nostalgia of past times that have made me who I am today. I will always love you as a brother in arms as well as in spirit. RIP Bro.

I am 71 years old, and saw the MTB in the 70's. I will never forget it. I listened to them every day, commuting to work, and every night partying with my friends. I know the words to every song. I have played in many bar bands, and Can't You See was, and still is, required for every show. Toy's finger picking created a very unique sound (Mark Knopfler). His leads are reckless but beautiful (like Neil Young). Still in my top 5 bands of all time.

1974, Mile High stadium. Went to see Alman Brothers. These cowboys played before. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. Toy came back out and played with Dickie. That's where i heard Toy referred to as the fastest thumb in the south by Dickie. Got home and found their album and the rest is history. God love them cowboys!!!

I love Toy Caldwell and Tommy too even though I never met them. Or I just could say that the music of The Marshall Tucker Band spoke to me when I finally heard it. I got into live recordings of MTB via Allman Brothers Band traders and such. I had heard the band as a kid on 8 Track tapes my brother had played as he too me to school. As a kid I always made fun of my brother's music. I was so bad, just acting like a maniac, carrying on at the EMOTION displayed by acts such as Janis Joplin, 3 Dog Night, Jethro Tull, Skynyrd, MTB, Zep, etc. I heard a lot of classic rock by default because my brother wanted to be cool. I don't even know if he ever really liked a lot of what he was playing. He was just being contemporary. But my half- brother planted a seed in me and when I was a man I found out some of that music spoke to me and it meant quite a lot to me. I found out as time went on that Toy Caldwell was the heart and soul of the songs of the MTB. So through live recordings I studied MTB and the Toy Caldwell Band. All I can is I consider Toy and the MTB guys brothers, right there with the Skynyrd guys, ABB, Bad Co, etc. Thanks for touching my life with music.

Damn...where did this music go? You just don't hear stuff like this anymore. Maybe in obscure little night clubs or a coffee house but it's very rare. I just seem a group a few weeks ago that started playing some southern rock tunes, the likes of Lynrd Skynrd and Allman Bros., I asked them did they know any Marshall Tucker or Toy Caldwell songs and they looked at me like a deer in the headlights! I asked them if they didn't know them they need to go back and study these awesome musicians.

If they didn't know of Toy Caldwell, they know nothing about Southern Rock. They probably learned a few chords of Free Bird and Ramblin' Man. Pffffffft....
