Dear Pre-Dreamer,
where do you see yourself in one year?
I´ll go first: In one year I will quit my job, buy a van, and go on an adventure!
That is normally not the answer I give when people ask me that question. I don´t dare to tell them that I want to live in a van, that I was dreaming of living in a van for the last 7 years.
Admitting your dreams is scary. Because once you do you feel obligated to turn your dreams into reality. And that is hard. It´s nothing like you dreamed it would be. So it is easier to keep them secret. That is what I´ve been doing. I kept them secret.
But I don´t want to do that anymore. Because then they might never come true.
I´m very excited to see where I will be in one year.

All of this sounds so familiar to me. I actually did live on a sailboat, van, and then a car for a few years. Tried building a KZbin channel and have been self employed in the past. Couldn’t seem to make anything work. Now I’m back living in an apartment, working longer hours than ever and I’m in my mid thirties now. I feel like I have a better understanding of how the world works but I’m not anywhere closer to achieving my dreams. If I can pay off all my debt by this time next year I’ll be a lot closer to achieving something. Having said that I started out with no debt, and feel like I’m going backwards most of the time.

Dear Colin, Thank you so much for watching my video and sharing your story. And what an amazing story it appears to be. Sailboat, van, and car life. That sounds like a dream come true. But I know how it is when life happens and puts a dimmer over our dreams. I am so sorry to hear, that you are having a tough time with your debts right now and had to make changes due to that. Going back into an apartment and working a full-time job again after being so close to your dreams must be devastating. 😟 I lost my big dream of being a musical theater actress to panic attacks and burnout. And it was the most brutal time of my life. I hope you are taking care of yourself and find comfort in the little joys that life has to offer. And I hope that you are not giving up (unless you feel it is for the best). It sounds like you truly love it and put a lot of time and effort into your dreams. I guess sometimes life forces us to take a step back to figure out what we want, to realize what we are made of, to help us see another path, or to find a different way. Five years ago I thought I'd be on stage forever. Now I don't even want to be any longer but I still love to create. And I just try to find another approach to fulfill that dream of mine with this you tube channel🥰 I hope that everything will eventually work out for you and I send you lots of patience and strength to get through the rough patch. Dear Dreamer, thank you so much for your kind words 🥰 sorry for the delayed answer but I am taking a little time off of youtube at the moment. I am not giving up on my dreams. I agree that they give us hope and some sort of drive and purpose. I just don't want them to turn into nightmares that haunt me because I am not able to fulfill them. That would be very unfortunate. Where do you see yourself in one year? For me, this is a difficult question to answer especially if you answer it honestly. Because sharing your dreams and hopes for the future is scary. It took me four years on this channel to get there. 🙈 So are you braver than me? Because I would love to know about your dreams, but only if you want to share.

I see myself in the same place but in the other house, working on the other list of things, taking trips if my body allows. You are wise to cherish some dreams for their dream value and not force them into the world. When my son was little we had an ongoing story we would weave on boring trips, we took turns adding details so it was not created solely by either of us. He would recite it to himself to fall asleep sometimes "so I don't forget it". That is sort of how some of my dreams are. To actually do them was clear disaster at the start, others would cut off other dreams... sort of like pruning a tree. Now dreams are sort of like cuttings from old dreams sprouting in a pot where I am. Some won't make it but they aren't as wild and unruly. Good luck in pruning and growing the direction of your dreams

What a special activity to do with your son, does he still remember? 😊 I agree that finding value in having some dreams just stay dreams is comforting there is no need to make them come true. I always try to find some kind of compromise with my dreams. If I can't fulfill them I at least try to bring some part of them alive. I would love to live in a cabin for example but I can't afford that so I transformed my apartment into a little bit of a cabin. And I get away to the Cabin of my stepdad once in a while. I find that your videos are lovely! The messages you send really resonate with me. About this one in particular, I wonder what is keeping you from following your dream and whether you will work more actively towards it now that you shared it with the world. While finding a partner does not solely depend on you, living in a van sounds feasible (I might be wrong, as I do not know the nature of your reality). Would you do one dream without the other? I wish you joy in living your pre-dream and in all the adventures that follow.

Dear @TinyDotintheUniverse Thank you so much for watching my video and asking this question. Let me put it this way: I have been working towards that van life dream for the last several years. Earning the money for it is one of the biggest obstacles because vans in Germany are really expensive, especially since the virus. There are also other things to consider like how to earn money when traveling, my dog Bray, or the mere fact that officially living in a vehicle is not allowed in Germany 😂. I also had a major breakdown a couple of years back and had to work hard on getting myself back on my feet again. This is an ongoing process and I have come far but I am only now getting to the point where my confidence, energy, and capability are restored enough to even think about giving up control and stability to move into a van. 😂 And like I said in the video there are also other dreams to consider. But I feel like I reached a turning point. And it does not feel impossible any longer. It might not seem like it but sharing my dreams with the world like you said is a huge step for me. So I am really curious to see where I will be in a year from now. 🙈 I send you lots of greetings to your part of the world. 🥰 Love Lexi

Oh, I had the same problem very often, especially during the advent calendar time. It was very frustrating and I kept answering, but like you said KZbin just ate the comment over and over again. I normally waited two weeks and then tried again. And then it took but it was very curious 🙄 Unfortunately, I can't find your original comment. It seems to be lost. And from my experience, it won't pop up. Maybe if you try again in one or two weeks 🤔. Or answer to this comment? But only if you want to obviously. I know how much time it can take to rewrite.
