I work in corrections, and I can tell yu while certain things are bad, it truly is nothing like the movies anymore. I've heard old timers, the people who have worked since the 60s and 70s, how it once was. But the day to day, it isn't even close to the movies. Shit still happens, but it is legitimately rare, at least in my facility, we have had zero non consensual relationships for over a year and seven months. Considering we house people who prefer consent not existing, it is impressive in a way. One thing you should remember is that the only thing movies get consistently right, is that we have a majority of people who have witnessed or been involved in murders, violent violent people, and people who get off on human suffering. The thing movies get wrong is that many of these same people who do these things are just.... unintelligent. They are not sociopaths, instead.... They lack the ability to see more than 1 step into the future. The only comparison to them, who can let 3 seconds ruin 30 years would be someone who gets mugged for $10 and decides to burn $1,000,000 since they lost $10 and don't care about their life savings anymore.
@BbGun-lw5vi2 жыл бұрын
@@alexandergremory9468 You are so right about prisons having changed in recent times. And I’m glad you cleared up something that always goes unnoticed. A lot of criminals lack the mental capacity to make intelligent decisions. Movies and TV glorify criminals, turning them into masterminds. When it’s more often than not, the opposite.
@dazh6862 жыл бұрын
It looks like people still ignores that the prison system, particularly the one made by private prisons in the U.S., they're a business and they need the prisoners to make money, so there's very little that's done to try to reform the prisoners. Also, like in colonial times, some even do work on fields farming by basically, food and a way little payment, in other words, modern slavery, once in prison, it's hard to return to society, as well. Those private prisons make bids to governments,exists since 18th century, USA only remodeled its slavery and colonialism. Same as they did with imperialism, they may not directly occupy territories, yet they have them in control through buying sellout politicians, in other cases, blackmailing them, reason why they spy on the whole world, using sanctions, blockades or offering only help, if those countries do neoliberal economic reforms that mainly benefit U.S. interests. You also can notice how the justice system works different based on the ethnicity of the person. The U.S. has the biggest private prison population in the world. During the early 20th century, you can find they wanted to use the prisons to get rid of the part of the population they didn't want in their society by making them infertile. Eugenics was invented in the U.S. and it was by it, they even inspired those with those views in Europe, including to that man and his party that lead Germany during WWII. He even wrote letters of admiration to USA for what they were doing. BTW, once USA took control of Germany, the U.S. wrote their actual constitution, many members of WWII Germany became members of the western organizations and other thousands served to them.
