How is Howard Fineman gone, and McConnell isn't? The universe was kind enough to lend him to us for a while.

A word to readers here from a fan of both Howard Fineman and Al Franken: If you care for someone, their work, their public and private contributions - TELL THEM. Don't end up like we are, commenting in hindsight on Howard's wonderful work, huge heart and sense of humor. TELL THEM. Senator Franken, I enjoyed your SNL humor, but I am forever in your debt for your work as a Senator. ❤

I met Howard (then known as Howie) in 1967 at college. We both wrote for our college newspaper and eventually he became my editor. I moved to DC in 1973 and Howard moved here a few years later. I saw him frequently over the years, at the gym, at social gatherings and in the neighborhood. I never failed to tell him how much I appreciated him as a writer and friend. I was one of thousands who did the same.

I loved Howard's political analysis. We were like-minded. I also grew up in Squirrel Hill and the other thing we had in common is we were both huge Mineo's Pizza fans. Rest in peace Howard, I'll see you in Pizza heaven!

Mr. Fineman's introduction on your Air America radio show was "Oh Howard You're So Fine" (to the tune of "Mickey" by Toni Basil). I spent a lot of time listening to your three-hour broadcast every weekday, and I came to appreciate the opinions of people like Howard who I considered conservative, as there were no batshit crazy MAGAheads back then. You share Vice President Harris's desire to bring conservatives to the table. I filled out my ballot over a week ago and today I pray that moderate Republicans will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

I agree with Bill Maher, I just hope people won't ask oh, is she dead? Sorry you lost your friend Al, one thing about Pancreatic cancer is you don't live to battle it very long. My husband survived for about 6 mos. after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I know you must have seen how horrible it is.

Do you realize Mr. Franklin, how often you start a sentence but end with a different thought? I’ll give you a hint: more often than Biden!
