Best Super Bowl halftime show EVER! Straightforward, no frills, no choreography, no lip-syncing. Just a great 4 song mini-concert from one of the best to ever take the stage. RIP TP..

@@kimberlygiacometti6041 Michael Jackson was the complete opposite of Tom Pretty. Completely choreographed, completely lip-synced, and just a horrible show. Prince was much better than MJ, but still fell short of Tom Petty, IMO. EDIT: OK, OK, Prince fans, I just went and rewatched the Prince halftime show, and while I like the Tom Petty songs better than Prince's songs, you got me...Prince's halftime show was indeed better than the Tom Petty Super Bowl halftime show. Prince was just electric during the entire halftime show, and my gosh what an entertainer he was. He ripped on the guitar, sang, and moved all over the stage, all while wearing platform shoes on the rain soaked stage. Gotta finally give him his props for the best halftime show ever. My apologies for questioning you guys.. 👏👏👏

Me and my friend said the same thing when we heard the news of his passing. " Tom Petty never had one bad song " . I saw him sing American girl as a kid while up late watching the midnight special . I really loved The Wildflowers album and " Honey Bee " ...Rough week ..life changing week .

Baler Johnson, I too use to stay up and watch The Midnight Special. Countless Arts and musicians got their start on that show. Little did we know we were watching history. Tom Petty, The Stones, The Boss, many others. They were at their best ,young, new and breaking down bearers . Wish I could go back to those times. Rock on Tom . You don't know how many lives you touched with your music.

I just saw Petty the other month, and the guy was so humble. Almost every time the crowd cheered he thanked the crowd, and with a smile. I've been to a lot of concerts over the years and never saw anyone so gracious. He could have done the big rockstar thing and just said thank you good night at the end of the show, but I really think he appreciated how much his fans liked him and his music.

There is something about his voice and the emotion he offered up this performance, pouring himself into these songs at this venue that catches me like a quick stab of melancholy. He's pouring out every bit of heart and soul in this performance. If I hear one of the songs from this night, I recognize it out of all the other performances. It's so effortless and sincere and masterful and loving and humble. It feels like he's just truly touched to be there. American Girl becomes more of a favorite the older I get. I just love this performance. He's telling the fans, I love you, and I think he felt it returning like a tidal wave back over him. Tom is one of the best, it still hurts that he's gone. I love his story telling and his voice and music his wit, and his ability to lay bare the most vulnerable emotion you could never put into words, and he does it with seeming ease. Thanks for this diamond, Tom Petty, and the rest of the Heartbreakers.

This performance is the one that made me decide that music was the life I wanted. So many years later and I'm still chasing that dream and it's all thanks to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Miss this man so much, thank you so much for the incredible music!

such a beautiful thing, expecially the never ending gems waiting to be uncovered if one looks past the radio, like Audio Archaeology a neverending food for the soul. Petty was an endless clear running spring deeply tapped into something universal and elemental. hard to describe. He deeply appreciated and was a very thankful guy..

The Petty and Prince half time shows are my two all time favorites. Prince singing "Purple Rain" actually in the rain, and the whole Petty set. Sigh. Still have trouble believing they are both gone.

Wow, never thought I'd ever live to see this. Actual real musicians playing real instruments playing all original songs at a Super Bowl Halftime show. And they nailed it!

Best halftime show ever in my opinion. I watched in my hospital bed after a major surgery 2 days before.
