It's hard to lose the good ones, especially those that you were closest to. It's so hard to lose anyone but this time of year is really hard on the families. I hope that they can find comfort in knowing that they served valiantly.

Matt, my heart aches with news like this. I cannot thank people like yourself, and all our police agencies for placing yourselves in harms way to protect us. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of these officers. Thank you for sharing what I know seemed to be difficult for you. You are an inspiration, and I thank you for what you do.

I’m so sorry for your loss Matt, there’s a verse that is always quoted where I’m from when an officer dies in the line of duty, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13).
