Great video Matt! As a 13 year reserve deputy many deputies I know have been in various kinds of combat but on a much smaller scale. And the emotional impact on their lives is similar also.

I did 4 years Marines and a tour in Afghanistan. That being said, my first firefight was as a cop here in my home town. My biggest fear at the moment of truth was not dying per say. But dying before I could tell my friend and coworkers what was happening. I was terrified I would die and they would arrive trying to help me with no knowledge of where the suspect was or what he was doing. It became a struggle to end the threat not for me, but for those men coming to my aid.

First of all, thank you for your service. I love to hear this kind of stories not because I’m like goredetail lover but because it’s the closest that you can get to the ultimate sacrifice, without knowing if you are going to make back, to see your home and fam. It’s what men do, look the reaper to its eyes and give it hell. Thank you! Loved the video.

You can usually tell the men who have actually been in combat, they don't find it glorious and hate war. My uncles that were in the front lines in WW2 hated what they saw and had to do. One was in Patton's 3rd Army. My one nephew joined the Army and was in the 82nd. Airborne. He was all this gung ho shit and begged to be sent to Afghanistan. When he got back all that bravado vanished. There is nothing cool about seeing your buddy's head blown off.
