I appreciate that the cut away shots must be time consuming but they really make the new series what it is. Thanks

This is my home town. I lived there from my birth in 1949 until 1972. Went to school in the old Primary School next to the Church. I now live in Worthing but West Chiltington is still the place I think of as Home. It will always have a special place in my heart. Norman Wisdom lived at Lakers Farm which is opposite the Windmill on the corner of the turning into Stream Lane. The Village Band is a Silver Band, not a Brass Band.

I really love west’s chiltington, lovely little village. The church has got 5 bells for chiming only, with a special apparatus called Ellecombe Chime. The chime mechanism keeps the bells still in the tower, and one person is required to chime them by pulling on small ropes in this little box in the church. So there is no proper ringing here but this is a rather unique style, there are not many churches in the area that have this system

I think this year, for all the strife, we have been rewarded with a particularly verdant spring and your videos will be a treasure to enjoy for the future. The bright side of the current situation is that there is little traffic, few people and it adds to the atmosphere. Thanks again Richard.

Cows are quite inquisitive when they are young and they looked pretty young. Gorgeous village . Very chocolate box. Agatha would feel quite at home in Amberley too I think

I'd love to live in a windmill too Richard. My great grandfather used to own Stretton Mill (a watermill) in the north west. It now owned by heritage and is a working museum. Looking forward to the next video really enjoying them. 😊👍

The cows looked more scared of you, than you of them. I ponder if perhaps they could sense your trepidation. Very well filmed, you must have spent a long time going back & forth setting up many of these shots. It has been noted by me in recent videos and is appreciated, thank you.

The wire fence between you and the cows made all the difference! Have you ever been to the little Earnley church, outside of Chichester before Bracklesham Bay? There is a mill at the end of Bookers Lane, Earnley just on the corner of the road heading back to Chichester. I loved this series. Thanks.

Good morning Richard another excellent video (as always) - what’s not to love about West Chilt (as it’s often known). Norman Wisdom did indeed live there, the stunning Spanish style property is called Lakers House and I believe he actually had it specially built about 50 years ago.

Really enjoyed this series Richard, I love the idea of retracing such old routes and seeing what has changed and what has remained the same. I have actually enjoyed these videos so much that I've brought myself a lovely book called 'The Highways and Byways in Dorset' by Sir Frederick Treves and plan on doing a few of the walks once I can get back down to Dorset again. It's a good little book, written around the same time as the one you're following...Worth looking into if you want to do future series in different areas.

Lovely film Richard. Within a short time you will overcome your Bovinophobia and Taurophobia! Great that the village stocks have been preserved. Apparently people would enjoy throwing rotten food, eggs and even stones at the poor individuals being punished 🤭

hello Richard, Tony in oz here again , are you watching me on facebook ? i have just mentioned the area you are in here as a prizewinning wine area , hard to believe they have done what the romans did 2000 years ago . My niece Joanna (raised in Worthing like me )showed a bottle of sparkling wine ...made in west Sussex drunk on her special occasion , i am sure this would be very interesting to other people like me who shot rabbits on this land . We here are surrounded by vine yards , we buy drinkable wine from 2 pound fifty a bottle but I understand English wine is very expensive , they say it is 3 years old which puts it in the champagne class but of course none of us are allowed to call it champagne. Looking at a map, the area in France called Champagne is only about 150 miles south of West Chiltington ...so , same climate ...over to you Richard and your camera...I am 82 on the 22nd i will be drinking our version of Champagne..

Margaret Rutherford had a sad life. Rutherford was related to Tony Benn. So many beautiful villagers to see in Sussex. I don't think living in a mill would be very nice. Remember there's alway 'Trouble at Mill" lol.
