If your intrested in our joint history and culture, you may want to look into Anglish, a purly Germanic modern English the way it would be today, if the Normans had never won and no Greek and Latin words were imported. Quite interesting and fun as a thought experiment, although not few are using it seriously (The Anglish Times, books, r/anglish,...).

Habe schon in der Pubertät immer "Ougenweide" gehört.....Mittelhochdeutsch.....Althochdeutsch ist eine (oder die) der ältesten Sprachen überhaupt.....ganz viele andere Sprachen wurden davon abgeleitet (wie z.B. Englisch)....Alt-Hochteutsch......oder Theodisch (was göttlich bedeutet)
