I feel like if Candle Cove were worked on by people with an actual budget and enthusiasm, it could be a real and interesting show! It would be light and fun, but with an occasional edge in the form of the Skin-Taker and co. All it needs is a little TLC and a more coherent plot. I think anime would be able to keep most of the original's surreal designs and either show them in a more appealing way (Horace Horrible would look far better drawn than as a puppet) or perhaps remodel them (make Percy look less creepy, for one, and make the Laughing Stock look less fake or like he's gargling seawater), AND it would also match the content with the right target audience (tougher Japanese kids and teens/young men are perfect for a colorful show with the occasional death and blood). What do you guys think?

Alex Morganstern Agreed. I would consider a "Reactive Continuous Scream" running gag to reference that... memorable thing, but I would only play it for laughs. For example, Janice first entering the world and coming face to face with Percy for the first time. Janice screams at the "bloodthirsty pirate," and Percy is freaking out because there's suddenly a screaming woman right in his face and he wasn't sure what to do, for example. Also, some Mr. Ichabod and Sleepy Hollow action between Percy and the Skin-Taker would be hilarious.

Alex Morganstern Absolutely! I would suggest him being a genre-savvy villain who occasionally drops hints that the fourth wall won't protect the audience. Like these guys: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou I also think that he should be a prime source of nightmare fuel in the show, similar to the Joker in tone, but with a more serious personality and a fairly no-nonsense attitude.
