My 5 year old son now loves this film like I do. He dropped some food the other day and said, 'oh fudge'. But he said it slowly just like Ralphy. I was in hysterics.

RIP to Bob Clark and his son Ariel. Mr. Clark you made one of the best, most enjoyable movies ever, A Christmas Story. I have loved it since I first saw the commercials advertising it back in the 80’s lol. We just watched it yesterday and I still laugh out loud when the leg lamp is destroyed. Such a wonderful movie!!

Like mentioned, there were so many great and memorable scenes in this movie. The Chinese restaurant is probably my favorite 😍 But I think the thing they did so spectacularly was telling this story from the viewpoint of a kid, namely Ralphie. That’s what makes it so funny because we’ve all been there.

Jean Shephard's cameo in the department store where the kids were in the line to see Santa-- had an interesting reveal. When Shep told the boys that the line starts "back there", he raised his arm to show them the line, which revealed a piece of jewelry he was wearing on his wrist--a Miami Cuban link chain. This piece of jewelry for men was trendy in the 1960s thru 70s. It would not have been trendy in the 1940s. I am thinking too that Shep had been establishing himself more in Florida at that time (time of movie) from NYC.

Commentator vaguely reminds me of U2. The movie itself, every single time I watch it there is something I never noticed before. I just wish the movie was twice as long. Hell, I wish the Christmas season started November 1st and ended February 1st. That way you get more snow around Christmas time.

In God we trust, All Others Pay Cash is the title of the original book/material for this movie. Shepherd told the stories on his job on Public Radio, through the years as individual stories. Worth the read.
