Holy smokes I never thought I'd see this game again. Got this around the same time as Phantasmagoria as a kid. Love these old FMV games.. Have a charm to them. Too bad a majority of people weren't into them.

I remember saving my money and buying this game back in 1995. Was about 15 at the time and was AMAZED at the graphics. Was my first FMV game. Never managed to get a 1st degree verdict. I remember the best i could do is to get a doctor up on stand .... don't remember what he said. It's funny that this game is not more known than it is.

I still have the copy my mom bought after all these years. I definitely didn't understand the half of it when it came out but I really did appreciate how plain GOOD it was and how great it was to see anchors from our local news as well. I was trying to place quite a few of the intersections during the travel FMVs too.

Just so you know, the news channel featured in the game is KTVU FOX 2, which is an actual channel we have here in San Francisco. Those are also real news anchors and reporters.

​@ny2j7 Funny enough, WTXF, Fox 29 Philadelphia had the same intro graphics from 1989-1997, right into the start of the Non Stop Fox/Fox Area 21 graphics phase (split screen credits... ugh.)

I loved this game.. Owned it as a kid... I managed to get the reprogrammed version recently which runs on modern O/S's without the use of DosBox and the like... but for some reason the videos run very jerky... :( Very nice to see your playthrough and show it to a friend who is interested in law.. Thank you for uploading this and for showing off an excellent playthrough.

Just came across this game in my basement… I think it came with an IBM Aptiva in 1995 (when PC mfgs differentiate their offerings by the amount of decent software included!). Couldn’t get it to install on Win10 but i tried it on an old WinXP laptop which it runs on! I wish there was a way to get it to play without needing the CDs because the loading of video clips from the optical drive causes you to sometimes miss the first second or two of the witness response! Also discovered that you can turn off the distracting MIDI music in the title bar’s settings and hear the witnesses much better.

I just started playing this again after oh...20 years? I remember getting the first degree verdict as a kid just through random luck and then remembering what questions I asked in court and during interrogation. I played yesterday and Tobin got acquitted. The judge made fun of me. I never realized, as I wouldn't, how good the acting was and how subtle and clever the humour was. The news anchor: Parking meter rates are going up, more rain on the way, and the Mexican government was deposed in a violent coup last night. lol, right over my 8 year old head.

I've been searching for this game for the longest. I kept thinking it was Murder in the 1st. I enjoyed this game, Phantasmagoria and Jones in the Fast lane when I was younger.

It's Broderbund so i get why its more watching and clicking then actual footwork like Body in the bay. It's still a good game and great to teach a little of the process as Broderbund DID also make a slew of educational games.

It should be noted that the game was co-designed by Peter Adair, a noted openly gay filmmaker during the 1970s and 80s who focused on the LGBTQ community. This was one of the last projects he was involved with before he died with AIDS in 1996.

actually, now that I think of it, I remember this old game from the 1980s called Objection!, I think it was, that was kiiinda similar, but nowhere near the detail, you basically just get presented various legal statements and you must choose to object or sustain, as far as I can remember.. it was very original for its time.. just found a Let's Play video for it too.. check out /watch?v=2N70E1grZII

I remember there is another game like this, where as a police officer you need to gather all evidence, and in court you need to arrange your statement to make it presentable. I forgot the name of the game, but it has a sort of similar gameplay to this.

The annoying part of this game, is Yvonne and her actions that ultimately make this game's ending seem unbelievable. She almost seems bent on covering something up though the storyline never went over what.

Yvonne was frustrating to deal with, but you have to understand she was trying to salvage her deceased husband's reputation on top of maintaining her own career. Not to mention the hurt and very public embarrassment in discussing the affair and her involvement in the guns origin.

I had this game years ago, but no longer have the disc, I've been searching all over the net for an ISO image, but can not seem to find one. I have found other games from this era such as 7th Guest - 11th Hour, Phantasmagoria 1 & 2, and some others, but this one is tough to find, any tips or suggestions would help.

Can you explain how you installed this? I've tried installing through dosbox (through win311) and the farthest I've ever been able to get was getting the game to load, but the Quicktime videos didn't play, and what little did play didn't have audio.

You have to install QT from the game disc. You also need to install drivers for sound and video.

No matter how much I want to I really don't like this game :/ It just gets so much about real life wrong. The acting is good, with some ham actor moments, and the premise seems good. But the obvious stereotypes of Attorney's, the suspect and witnesses and the fact the suspect loses it at the end. I just can't like it :/ Good play through.

I definitely get you on that. I enjoyed it when it was new because there was nothing else like it, and even still I think it's a really neat game, but I totally see what you're saying about the melodrama... the guy at the end goes over the top just a bit. Not quite as much as Don does at the end of Phantasmagoria... he must have worn his teeth to nubs for how much he chewed the scenery :P
