The TV show was a success due to O’Connor & Rollins. Great on screen chemistry, but the 1967 movie with Sidney Poitier & Rod Steiger, directed by Norman Jewison is an American Classic. Poitier should have won the Oscar for that role. The TV version was a very good crime drama in such a small town. Lol

Definitely remember watching this as a teenager. Wasn't a bad spin off from the Sidney Poiter movie. Howard Rollins was a great actor..but had a weird lifetstyle that surfaced when he passed. Carrol O'Connors real life son died similar to Howard Rollins...street life...he was crushed by it. For then time it aired, it was a decent show. Good job Sister Tieesha. B1

Crazy just visited the town and did a brief tour while driving thru. As I was looking at the police station, an older white couple walked up and said “Are you a Heat fan” and that was such an ice breaker for a conversation. It’s amazing how this show 25+ years later still resonates to young and older adults My wife and I watch it like it’s brand new ever chance on WGN Great show!

Thank you for this absolutely loved and still love this show. I wish someone would do locations used in season 1 in Louisiana. Being a guy that grew up in the 80s this show always brings back so many memories. Simpler times. Whenever I see then and now popular locations it makes me happy and sad at the same time. Brings back good memories but it's sad because you know a lot of the people are not around anymore and it's just like time has gone on and history just is history now. A time when these places were so vibrant and full of life.
