As a covington girl born and bred, we happily welcome you anytime back to hazard County. I had no idea these gems existed in my hometown, you've opened my eyes to a beautiful history I never knew my city had. Growing up you hear it jokingly amongst locals called the Hollywood of the south but honestly the new tourist stuff feels kind of weird to us. Like to literally have tourists riding all through the square and town on huge golf carts to tour the vampire houses is wild. It's definitely being city-fied. As for us, we still live in the rural area on the south end of covington, there is so much history out this way too. We're glad to have you back anytime!!
@ChunkeyMonkey40

I'm glad I was able to open your eyes to some of the history of your town. I'm sure it is very weird having everyone there for the vampire diaries. But even with it being city-fied, I still think of it as one of the coolest places I've ever been. I've been there twice now and have made many life long friends down there. I will definitely be coming back, and when I do come back (hopefully soon) I plan to meet even more locals! I love that town, so much great history and even better people!

This was absolutely incredible I’ve seen a lot of these videos yours was the most detailed yet. The general lee from that jump MTV did is currently sitting in Las Vegas at the star car museum. I have pictures of this car if you want them. Also the orphan spitting flies in the back of the general lee later became rusty on the national lampoons movie

Thank you so much brother!!!! I gave it my all, I have seen a lot of them too, but nobody gets detailed about anything. They just walk up to the location, make a dumb joke and leave. I wanted to go deep, and make it something that people can watch and learn something from! And no kidding that's cool that car is still around! and wow no kidding that's cool that kid was in there!

That kid in the General at the orphanage scene is Jason Lively , A.K.A Rusty Griswald in the National Lampoon movie, EUROPEAN VACATION! He also reappeared later on the Dukes in the episode "BOARS NEST BEARS" playing a basketball player. Jason's dad ,ERNIE LIVELY was in the first episode playing a character called , Dobro Doolan. He later played a security guard in an episode when the General had been impounded. He then was cast as Cooter's cousin, LONGSTREET B. DAVENPORT.

I’m sure you already know but for the fans that don’t, the crashed Richard Petty race car was actually Lee 1 that made the famous jump in the opening scene of the show, and was then reused and painted green, now restored and owned by Bubba Watson.

This was the best documentary of The Dukes of Hazzard I have ever seen. It was one of my favorite shows along with Dallas. I stayed with my grandparents on the weekend and every Friday night they would take the phone off the hook and 8pm was The Duke's and 9pm Dallas. I miss those days; my grandparents are gone now. But I was blessed to have been born during that time period. Thank you so much for the video, it brought back so many memories. It was so awesome, again, thank you.

My Father was a WW2 Veteran, served in Burma 🇲🇲, drove a half-track, was an MP, flew over the Himalayan 🏔 Mountains, and retained the rank of Sergeant First Class! He came home 🏡 in December 1945 and got a job at the Erie Railroad 🛤. He had a Pass, and we rode the trains 🚂 for free. When I was seven, he told me about Pearl Harbor, the Doolittle Raid, and the Bataan Death March! He had two Type 99 Japanese Arisaka Rifles, complete with the extra-long Garand Bayonets and slings that he was able to take home 🏡. He carried a 45-caliber pistol in the war and cried that he was not able to take it home 🏠. He knew Brigadier General Clare Lee Chenault and spoke about him in our house. He taught me how to salute 🫡, march, and recite the 10 General Orders! And he made sure that I was aware of Audie Murphy! 🪖 🥇 🥈 🥉 🏅 🎖 🇺🇸 🎗 ⚰️ 🪦 🗽Audie Murphy was the RAMBO of his time. thanks 🎌 🚩

Thank you so much for sharing this video it brought a tear to my eye with the memory of being in that time era. Going to school waiting for Friday night to watch The dukes of Hazzard was so awesome back in the day. Where they did the first jump on November 11th 1978 just the day before that I had turned 7. My youngest boy will be turning seven in June. My children love the dukes of Hazzard I'm glad I'm able to share that with them. I'm going to share this video with them they will be excited. It was so cool seeing all those old buildings what a fun time you must have had. I hope someday that I could get down there and experience a similar adventure as you have. Again I thank you ever so much for the wonderful trip down memory lane. My eyes are literally filling up again. Thank you

From one Dukes of Hazzard fan to another, this is truly awesome! I live in northern British Columbia, Canada and probably will never get to Covington Georgia. I would love to get there but it's 2855 miles or 44hrs drive from my house (according to google maps). I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard every Friday night, it was a real highlight of my week and something I always looked forward to watching. I even recorded the audio of the show and listened to it over and over again throughout the week. Anyways, I just wanted to say great job making this video and big Thank you. It brought back so many great memories. I subscribed to your video channel. Cheers.

Great video, I'm not sure if you realize it or not two of the most famous other than the jumps are when the show started and ended you see the guys spinning their tires onto another dirt road and Daisy thumbing a ride. Both were within less than a mile from the Dukes farm. One scene of Daisy was on Rosebud Rd. the other I mention was Skyland Dr. They actually filmed another episode when Cooter was chasing the Duke boys in a police car as a joke and rolled it. It was at the same road entrance off Skyland Dr. that leads down to water treatment facility on Big Haynes Creek. It's now Skyland Glenn Subdivision. I grew up on Skyland Dr. and we went to those spots after school after they filmed the scenes. We in elementary school so didn't know what was going on until after they had already gone. My brother was friends with the family that lived in the Dukes farmhouse.

I recognized that first spot right off. I was in the back of a Jeep with friends who recreated the jump….sort of. Banged my head on the roll bar while hanging on for dear life. They hit that spot both directions. Loved the show. Thank you for posting.

Wow!! You did an amazing job with this piece of history! The time and effort you put into this is incredible and worthy of recognition. One the best “memory lane” walks I’ve seen on KZbin.

I just downloaded the entire Dukes of Hazzard boxed set and was playing "One Armed Bandits" when I found your video. Great stuff, and this was my show when I was growing up and caused my love affair with racing. I also sub to John Schneider's channel.

This was the best Dukes Of Hazzard location and history video. I'm a hour south of there and have seen a few locations but this spring I'm thinking it's time for a road trip to see more.

Amazing video. Many good memories came back from when I was a kid watching the Dukes every Thursday at 8 pm. In Mexico the show was called “Los Duques de Hazzard”. Best regards amigo!

You did an amazing job brother. I’m from NY, huge fan, been to Cooter’s (Met the cast and all), but I’ve never been to Covington, GA to check these sights out for myself therefore I appreciate this. I’ve always wanted to go and do this.

Thank you Jason!!! I think you should try and make the trip sometime! Hazzard Homecoming is coming up May 7-8th. I'll be there as a vendor alongside a lot of stuntmen from The Dukes, and Byron Cherry. Raymond of the Northeast Ohio Dukes will be there too!

The last time my son and daughter and I went was about 2014. Both chimneys were still at the dukes farm house site. We met Dennis, he was a very friendly man, he also showed us those pictures and gave us a DVD copy of that documentary with James Best. There were a few more locations we went to. One was what we call the bump jump from when they jumped the car on Mary Kay's baby. Also the meeting bridge from that same episode. We also found the spot on episode 1 where daisy was in the road in her red bikini holding the picnic basket and the boys held up the drivers of the fertilizer truck. Also on the same road was a cool spot where the general tore out of one road onto another in the show. Very cool place. Loved those first five episodes bc they were filmed in REAL locations and not a studio.
